Radio Interference With Headlamps On

Trying to resurrect the interior of a 97 SW. I installed new Kappa speakers in the front doors (twice since I negelected to make sure the windows could roll down with the new speakers in place). Everything tested out fine except that when I turn the headlights on, I get a wicked buzzing noise over the audio. Any guesses on a good fix? H.

Specifically with the radio? or also with CD playing?

Buzzes on cd as well, but less pronounced-- but, again, only when the parking lamps and headlights are engaged. The original amp and cd changer are no longer with the truck.

Additional information that outlines the problem and my futility:

when the driver's side speakers are unhooked, the buzzing goes away.

Presumably, I have to start chasing ground wires.

If I were to use a filter or capicitor, where would I put it?

Did you run new speaker wires or did you reuse the original ones?

I used the original wires. Previous owner had unhooked the driver's side wires. (Perhaps now I know why.)

I managed to figure out that I had unwittingly crossed a pair of speaker wires. Incidentally, I was set on the right track by the common sense of those kind enough to respond to my plea, as well as the following link on supressing stereo noise/interference:

Id also be willing to bet that your headlight switch is on its way out.

Do D90's share the speaker grounds in OE setup? Are you still using the original amp?

I've wondered about this same question as well.

Nothing in my system is original, for better or worse. I've yet to trace all the loose wires in the harness, as it;s a spaghetti mess.
