Second week with my Defender, went through the car wash, forgot to push the antenna down. How easy is it to replace? I am mechanically challenged.

Follow-up Post:

I have read some other posts about the topic and it seems that the rubber more durable replacement would work best. The actual process of removing it? simple? timely?

Replace it with an OEM antenna.

Just curious why you recommend OEM? I have mine still in the truck but I hate that I have to go put it up to get any radio reception. Woudn't a short rubber one be better?

It will present a factory appearance.

No. You could get a power one if you were one of those people.

Drive through car wash? You should just hit golf balls at your truck and get it over with. Make sure you run through your bag so you can get dents on top of the hood as well.

Its very easy to replace. Just remove the ring on the top of the fender and follow the wire down under the truck to the center console. I actually get decent reseption with the antenna stowed. But then again i listen to XM and an Ipod more that the regular radio.

I bought an antenna from auto zone. it is a flexible one. Works great and you never have to F*&^ with it.
