Limb risers

Looking for some info on limb risers. I would love to put a set on my vehicle. I am sure they can be made of commonly available components. My vehicle has a Safari snorkel system and no rrof rack of any kind. I am thinking I could simply connect them from my roll bar around winshield to top of my ARB winch bumper brush guard assy.

Seems like this would drive the limbs straight up into my Snorkel intake and at a minimum break my grill on it. If I had a roof rack I could mount to that which would make it closer to the top of the snorkel intake but not yet in the budget. Any thoughts or ideas would be welcomed.

THX Michael, I was looking for limb risers....the branch deflectors almost jumped off the mods section and bit me...lucky it was not a snake.:rolleyes

That's the template I used for my limb risers and they work great. Cost me about 30 bucks at lowes. I've seen them for sale online for about $200! Very easy to make. I have them connected from the brush bar to my roof rack. A roof rack might provide you with a higher line angle which would help with your snorkle issue.

Also, use the plastic coated cable and strip it off where the clamps go.

They function really nice in the woods. Good luck.

After reading the branch deflector article i picked up a few good tips.

Double clamps for extra strength.
Keep the turnbuckles lower near the brush guard to keep them from vibrating/flopping
Plasticcoated cable.(I was thinking about getting SS cable but plastic coated must be cheaper)


Still have the issue of the snorkel.....without a roofrack the branches will be focused directly onto the front grill of Safari snorkel. I am thinking that the best thing would be to simply remove the scoop head unit during brushy driving. Best idea so far until I get my roof rack.

Those (the ones in Q's writeup) don't appear to be easily removable, but I can't tell for sure because there isn't a large enough photo of the upper connection point.

I made my own based on Chris Von C's writeup on Discoweb. They work well, but I'm still looking for a better way to attach them to my D90 's roof rack which is slightly different to the Disco's.
Something along the lines of an open clamp with a tab at the end like what is used to bundle wire.

Threaded 1/2 by 13 so you can mounts studs or tensioning items.

They come in weird colors but paint up nicely.

4 sets - 2 for the brush bar 2 for the roof roll bar. Forgot the diameter. You can also modify the front 2 to carry a hi-lift as well.


easy to remove so you don't have the week end warrior dork look come monday.
