View Full Version : Feeler for wheel spacers

To help fund my d-90 project I had an idea to make some extra money:
When I removed wheel spacers off my '94 d-90 I couldn't believe how easy they are to make. I will be making another set for myself (I'm a machinist at a company serving up-to-aerospace quality...more than sufficient).
If anyone is interested, let me know...they would cost approx $75 for 2 spacers.
There's a catch: I'm not an engineer or a corporation so i take no responsibilty/liability!
Sorry, one more catch: you'd be on your own for the hardware (studs and nuts). I would only make the aluminum spacer out of aerospace-grade aluminum, pre-tapped for the studs.

why not make the back of the spacer so that a normal rover stud could be pressed in ? I woud be interested in a pair if I wouldn't have to hunt down custom hardware to make them serviceable.

I would also be interested in some rear sway bar mount spacers made from aluminum say 1 inch thick. Simple solid rectangle of aluminum with four holes for the sway bar bracket bolts, the spacer should be te same size as the face of the mounting bracket. This would serve two purposes, space the swaybar geometry downward to correct for lifted trucks and also to beef up the week frame bracket.

I might be interested, pending 3 things.
If they are done so rover studs can be used, which are a press fit, preferably the longer studs so there more meat of the space holding them.
What alloy are they made from?
Are the hub centric or lug centric?

I decided to sell the wheel spacers (see For Sale Section)....I chickened out at the advise from others due to too much liabilty.

However, I'm still looking to make some extra money and take advantage of the machine-shop, so if anyone is interested in getting something fabricated please let me know.

Rover studs are about 5 buck's each, seems that premade ones aren't that overpriced.
