LRNA imported 530 somthing in '93. As of 2008 the '83 110 read the first year they were built are now able to be imported into the states as they are 25 years old. As for the price they NAS 110s are rare so people charge and can get the high prices you see. The 2002 on ebay well there are shady to totally illegal ways to get them in.

I went though this when buying my 110s and while I could (barely) afford an imported 2007 D110 titled as a 1979, I didn't want to run the risk of having an accident and then someone claiming I was driving an illegal truck. The whole thing never really felt right. At the end of the day, it's much more fun to have the correct and "real" NAS 110 that I first saw as a kid when they came to America. Someone once said on this forum that the federal gov't can take your illegally imported 110 at any time and crush it like a soda can. While I doubt this is really the case, it is a bit concerning!

In florida its easy to title a 110 as a 'kit car', All the overland shooting brake 110's which were imported ibetween 2002 and 2005 we titled this way, I should know because i sold the new lhd defenders to them!, the brought them in in containers with no transmissions and sea freighted the transmissions seperatly. the vehicles were sold for $60,000 + easch they did about 8 vehicles, all 300tdi and a least 2 double cabs see pic of two of the imported Rovers in Georgia.
We bring in 1983/4 defenders. We have brought in quite a few.
Most are in daily driver condition, Some are refurbished using newer body pannels and transmissions (tdi's etc).
We also rebuild for select clients using a donor 1983/4 vehicle and all new parts, 300tdi's are most popular. but the rebuilds are not cheap. The starting price for a stationwagon LHD, 9 seater in white is $45,000 including shipping to Baltimore where we send all* our vehicles.
* unless the client wants it elsewhere.

If you are resourceful, i believe you can have a 90 or 110 here legally! Hopefully someone will chime in to clarify / point you in the right direction.
BTW, take a look at the first thread in the vehicle for sale section.

Tracy,
I drive a 1983 110 that was imported last year and is here legally complete with epa and dot exemptions. Since arrival it has been converted to lhd and Tdi power-soon to have a/c. I'm about an hour away in Annapolis. If you are down this way I'd be happy to show you mine and explain the import process over a beer.

Hey Doug- I noticed you avoided the whole "sweet rig" thread - wish I could have. Anyway, curious to your thoughts on the Tdi in the '83/'84 ( wrong motor) and even NAS trucks. Not trying to stir the pot, and would even prefer pm, so as not to hijack this thread- Thanks, Dale

Dale,
Lets have a beer @ Uwharrie and discuss this subject. There is a less than friendly pontiff on this board.
