I'm entertaining the thought of swapping the 110k miles V8 in my D-90 for a 300tdi engine on the 'For Sale' section. The post reads "Disco 300 TDI engine with all ancillaries, rad/ intercooler. Everything to bolt into a disco or Defender. Also includes an R380 five speed gear box from the same truck. 110,000 miles. $4000 CND shipped within NA."

Is it really just a bolt-in. Besides the labor are there any other big price items which I would have to ensure are included, like computer modules?

If anyone has ever done this swap, please share some stories.

A number of us have done this swap, and there are lots of threads which will surface using the search tool. Bottom line is that a disco unit is not a defender unit, and there a number of extra things you will need from a different center crossmember to different length driveshafts. Don't buy this one thinking its plug and play - also you don't want an EDC motor - those have computers.

Great advice Jim! I'll keep my eyes peeled for something else then.
