View Full Version : Rubber buffer for ST tire carrier $5 shipped

evilfij
February 26th, 2009, 02:51 PM
Next week I will have 9 spare rubber bumpers for the ST tire carrier. This is bad on every D90 I see and causes the tailgate to rattle. It is the rubber nub that goes on the end of the bolt that contacts the middle of the upper bar on the tire carrier. Cost is a $5 bill mailed to me.

Ron

PS I bought ten so Mikey would not get stuck with the extra inventory

If you end up with 2 extra, please put me down... I have a brand new $10.00 with your name on it.

Ok, if people bail I will let you know. Everyone has been PMed.

I installed mine in 5 minutes. It is easier than it looks, but a bit tricky. The original just slipped over the top of the bolt (which is why it was such a POS). This one you need to take the bolt off, push the bolt through the rubber bumper, reattach the first nut and washer and then adjust it so it is the right distance and then secure it with the second bolt and washer. Makes perfect sense once you see it up close.

Did you mail mine or were you just planning to give it to me?

evilfij
March 24th, 2009, 10:02 PM
No, I mailed them all.

Fuck. Anyone who wants a refund email me and I will send money back. I mailed these two weeks ago (edit make that 20 days ago). I bet the post office got pissed and threw them out or something because they were in fat envelopes. Anyone have any ideas on how to track them down?

Ron

Follow-up Post:

Did ANYONE get their's (other than Glenn who picked it up)?

bharris

That makes it official: Wilmington Delaware Post Office sucks. I just refunded the five people I had on paypal. PM me if you mailed me $ as I don't have those PM's still. It really sucks too because I stuck a $20 in the envelope to one person.

Sorry guys,

:(

Ron

PS to be a good dude about this, I am going to order another 10 from Mikey and hand them out IN PERSON at the next year's MAR. Anyone wants to go to MAR can have one for free.

Ron,

You sent me a pay pal refund but I got mine, I am planning to resend the pay pal if that is ok with you.

FWIW I think it may have been the way you sent them, mine arrived in a regular envelope with no return address and insufficient postage so I had to go to the post office and pay the additional postage (maybe 75 cents).

evilfij
March 25th, 2009, 12:15 AM
Humm,

Dave, keep the money. I put them in a regular envelope (with bubble wrap inside) and a return address and a stamp and weighed them (well my secretary/office services did) and they were well under the one stamp amount. I bet the sorting maching ate them tearing up the envelope.

Ron

PS, yes, MAR in fall 2009.

PPS this is what I get trying to be johnny appleseed.

I appreciate you taking your time to get them and ship them, it is a bummer that your efforts were for naught :(

Still happy to resend the pay pal, I know you did not do it for the money and having to hassle with refunds for something that you were just arranging to be nice sucks.

thanks for your efforts :(

Ron, I don't think 10 will be enough, go with 20! I'll gladly pay in advanced for two of those and pick up at MAR (or get Charles to pick up for me! ;-) ).

Also consider getting the 2 pieces (one male, one female) that hold the door locked open. I'd be good for at least one set of those, maybe 2.

Limit one rubber bumper per D90 or D90 tire carrier owned.

Charles, if you want the rubber sockets call Mikey, I have not seen those go bad like the bumpers.

cgalpin
March 25th, 2009, 02:20 PM
Ok Ron. One of my tire carriers (I have 2) doesn't have the female side I think, but I will likely wait till I get it installed on Janey to be sure. I do need 2 bumpers though.

Since the shipping debacle, I am not going to try to ship this batch. I will bring them to the MAR (mid atlantic rally) held by ROAV (rover owners association of virginia) this fall and give them away. No money required.
