I'm trying to put Humpty-Rover back together and it's turning out like Franken-Rover...
What would really be appreciated is a photo of a 94 D90 ST where the external safari cage mounts to the b-pillar minus rollbar padding.
A previous owner removed the horns for a HT conversion and left me with somewhat of a puzzle going back to ST. I have about an inch and a half gap to the pillar and no gouge/grind marks where apparently the "horns" should connect if I connect everything to the external cage. There are grind marks below on the pillar!??!
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

More then Happy to take a pic, but I am not sure what you want a pic of:question Are you talking about right behind the drivers seat?

the grind marks below the pillar? The ST cages should have horns that come off the b-pillar similiar to the a-pillar on a HT. If the horns on the b-pillar were ground off, some new ones will probably have to welded on.
i don't understand the grind marks below the pillar, though.

Michael, you post too fast.
It appears in the test photo that the b-pillar is somewhat shorter than it should be which would explain why the gring marks are so low!??!

Here is a SW rollbar and its connection point:

Compaire to a ST rollbar that had its forward part cut off as well but not as bad as yours:

looking at your picture, the fellow stripped and cut the ST foam and connection point way back rather than buying a real SW roll bar. Looks like you will need to weld an extention to complete it.

the problem is that the foam is now missing and you will not be able to fit a soft top with it like that. Your bes bet is to find a used bar and get rid of yours. here is one for sale and they will take less then what its there for.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&tc=photo&item=2449693384&category=42611

Thanks everyone. I have the foam pieces so that's one hassle I won't have to deal with. The puzzling bit now is the rear roll bar does not align with the front.

The b-pillar actually looks like one from a SW ....??? ... which would explain why things aren't lining up.

your b-pillar is totally wrong. I think Troy is right with the SW theory

I just 'found' two lengths cut roll cage with the soft top - roughly 2 inches has been cut from the bar.
Would welding an appropriate spacer result in any weaknesses in the strength of the cage?
Thanks again!
