Does anyone have this setup on a defender? I pulled the pieces out to put it together and it looks like the intercooler pipes will be in the way?

Why not mount it in front of the radiator?

210s are pullers only I believe, wont do any good in front. Anyhow the IC should be usually be out front, makes the most sense that way.
I would think the FAL 210 and most dual fan setups are overkill for the TDI, they tend to run super cool by nature, you should be able to get by with one good electric fan roughly the same diameter as the original clutch fan.

I run a single Flexalite 118 16" fan and a series III rad and have no problems.
I have a single version of the 210, the 110, in the garage I'll sell you cheap.

I just put the I/C and the Rad together, the 210's are definitely a no go!
If I use one 12" fan, a flexlite 110 will it be enough? Or do I need something that will cover the I/C?

I have one 12" fan (not flexlite, some POS from the junkyard) and it never kicks on. Temp never gets above 185-190 and most times rides at 180.

Not yet, but Sunday it was 70 deg (today it's 30) and it still didn't move above 185. We'll see how she does come summer.
