Jobs go as Land Rover ends V8 contract Apr 30 2004

Birmingham Post

Short-term contract and agency workers at Land Rover's Solihull plant will be leaving the company in the next few weeks as their contracts come to an end.

Most of them work on V8 engine production which finishes at the end of next week.

The production building occupies an old area at the Lode Lane plant which the company is modernising. About £400 million has been put into the plant in a huge rebuilding and refurbishing scheme.

The V8 engine is in the Discovery 2 model but the Discovery 3, launched at the New York Automotive Show, has different engines made elsewhere.
