Rusty Door Bottom

My 110 drivers door bottom is rusted, all the others are perfect, no rust, no corrosion.

Any tips on cutting out the cancer and welding back good sheet metal? Anything I should look out for?

I am going to repair, can't bear to shell out premium bucks for a new door.

New doors aren't too premium right now - 1200 will buy you a new pair fully dressed out.

Paul Dandini is selling the shell - it'll be easier than repairing and repainting for sure. And the door is only off the truck long enough to swap the guts.

So a shell is the metal part of the door only, and from the comments they are Alpine white?

This is a door shell - yes, its just the metal part. I bought a white pair for 1200 and had them painted yellow for 300 bucks. They definitely weren't alpine white, which is actually a little creamy. I think they were Chawton white, but I didn't compare them to a sample or anything.

Dandini's door will be in the factory black eletrocoat. I'm pretty sure there's no way to repair your door frame without pulling the skin off, so you're going to be in the door-disassembly business anyway, and the new doors are so nice and tight - they seal well, the windows go up and down real nice, and they've got the new-style seals at the bottom.

If it were me, I'd get the door from Dandini, have it painted, and then just swap your parts into it.
