I had all of my keys stolen a while back...ignition, door, and console lock. I've talked with LR and to get replacement keys through them is going to be a huge hassle....this coming from them.

I asked about a new ignition and that would be $587.

What are my options here?

Call a local locksmith. They should be able to re-key it for you.

The ignition key can be cut from code. Call a decent dealer. You may have to send them your registration as proof of ownership. I would say call Mikey, but don't mention my name as he will be pissed for me sending him a $20 sale that requires so much hastle.

btw - your key code *might* be <deleting the location if you need the location PM me> if you don't have it.
Also i replaced my Keys with the new style (bigger stronger, etc) for $45 at my local LR dealer. I posted pictures on another thread. Also this single Key may work for all your doors as well as the ignition mine does and all the locks/ignition are orignal.

I know this from expereince - when I bought the truck a previous owner had kept a backup spare in the seatbox toolkit, which I found when cleaning it out to put in a second battery... sure enough, it's a mazda key (says mazda on it!) and it will start the truck.
