Any fishermen out there? I'm trying to figure out the best way to keep my rods on the d90. I had a surf rod holder on the front of my CJ but that seems a shame on the defender... anyone have any pics of how that looks or racks on the top? I need to cart offshore rods and light tackle locally - hopefully without messing up the interior.

I'd use reel covers whatever you do. Seems I just have to look sideways @ the finish on my Internationals and they get scratched.

How about a Yakima X tower setup with 66" crossbars? (You will need the 3" spacers as well)
Saved this pic I grabbed from here for reference
You can probably use ski rack attachment (which I've done on other vehicles) or something you can pick up specifically for rods to attach to the crossbars. Kind of ghetto, but does the job fine.
I've seen pictures ECR put custom rod holders on front bumpers but I think that's what you are trying to avoid.

That looks like it would do the job... cool, thank you.
I've never seen a custom front-mounted job on a defender - it might look ok, I just dont know. Very curious if anyone ends up finding a pic... thanks

I hope ECR doesn't mind me taking pics from their site :)
First pic is customer job, I believe they did a mount on his SG rack above instead
Second pic is something ECR fabbed up for a customer
Third Pic is a full shot of their beach runner 110 with the rod holders they fabbed up
I think they look good on a bumper, but might not work if your rods are really long and you have to go under low bridges

Likely doesn't help much, but might give you some ideas. :)
