I'm looking to install a trans temp gauge for my ZF (prefer a VDO gauge). I no longer run the stock ECU wiring. I know the ECU had a trans temp light and was wondering where that is located (on the trans itself) and whether I could tap it for a VDO trans temp gauge.
Anyone have any experience with this?
Or do I need to run something in line to the trans cooler?

Don't they sell adapters so you can stick the sensor into the fill plug? And there has to be some wires someplace, there are wires coming off my trans and T-case to for reverse and high low. They are up high by the shifter. Did you just think of this this morning I could have helped when I stopped by on Saturday.

Thanks Mike. Yeah, I thought of it Sunday after I left the shop. I was just sitting down making a list to make sure I covered all the necessary temps/gauges and such now that the ECM is out. And I realized the trans temp that the ECM monitors (well, their is a light behind the dash console), was not going to be monitored.
I've never seen the light go on except during start up, but I know I could use it as a better way to monitor the truck.
Thanks though. Had I thought of it while you were there, I would have put you to work.... :grin
