Quick question for some of you rover mechanics out there. How much is a fair price to pay to replace the rear main seal?

I was quoted 1700 by the dealer and 800 by an independent You have to drop the trannsmission and then replace the seal. I would replace all the seals back there if your going to do it.

Is the seal on your 90? How bad does it leak?

Yes, rear main on my 90...it leaks pretty bad - ~1qt every mo. and its weekend only driver for the most part.

It is most likely the cross seals and not the rear main.
Robinson service I think said ~2.5 hours of labor and ~$25 for parts plus oil.
