So, a good friend of mine and I did Black Bear Pass between Ouray and Telluride Colorado on Thursday (we also did Ophir Pass). It was a great trip. I was snapping away with my camera just taking it all in (this was my 2nd time on the pass since 2005). However, when I returned home, my wife and I were looking at my pictures when she turned to me and said, "Did ya'll know you weren't supposed to be there?" Of course confused, I asked her what she was talking about. I had taken a picture of the Black Bear Pass sign on the way in to the trail. A picture is worth a thousand words (see red arrow in picture). Obviously I missed something, but when did this happen? It didn't stop us from having a great day, but can anyone here explain? I might add that we were not the only one's on the trail.

Follow-up Post:

Ok, I have been informed that this may be a seasonal sign, and that San Miguel county may not have switched it out since the pass has been cleared of snow.

That sign refers to travel off of the trail/pass/road. Motorized travel is not permitted cross country, but ok where you were traveling.

Although it is not a difficult trail at all, it is very scenic and is near my stomping grounds. I'm sure glad that this is not the case.
