View Full Version : No Start After Tune-up

Performed a tune-up using NGK plugs, Bosch premium wire set, and a new distributor/rotor cap yesterday. I can hear the starter, but the ignition is not turning over (sounds and feels healthy, though).

None of the wires are touching and relatively crossing at 90 degrees. I thought it was a mis-wire (the Bosch set is un-numbered and I matched them according to length compared to the previous wire set). Is there a chart referencing the serial numbers on the wires to the appropriate numbers? The only wires that are close in length are the #3 and #5 wires; and I've tried both combinations, yet still no start.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

E.T.

Have you checked the distributor, make sure it is in correctly? Maybe try putting the old one back in. Also, from what I under stand Rovers run best on the cheap Champion plugs.

The distributor and rotor are proper. The old one broke while removing the #1,3, & 5 wires. This D90 is solid and ran on NGK's. The original starter lasted for 13 years. Perhaps, the Bosch wires work better with Champion plugs? Been troubleshooting and that may be an alternative.

Thanks, for your advice, Scott.

Cheers,

Ben

Not the wires or plugs.

You knocked a wire off the ignition coil or ignition module.

It was resolved sometime that week: a misconnected coil wire (ground). A good neighbor helped point it out for me. A very simple fix.

Thanks, everyone, for your responses. Peace.
