Has anyone tried this...I was told it was a bolt in but the metal plate with the vent handles on it doesn't seem to fit...I can't even figure out if I have it right side up or not...anyone have a URL or better yet...done this?
thanks

From looking at my dash, it looks like the holes in the vent screens are in different places on the old vs. new dashes. Also, can you use an old wiper set-up on the new dash? They're in different places too.

Jim, those are questions I am indeed seeking answers to...
Jamie, thanks for the Reedex url which I have studied before, but the part that I am wanting to know how to mount, he does not show.it's the plate that has the vent controls attached to it...I got this Td5 dash from Stephen at Safari Rover and he assured me it was a bolt in but right about now, I'm rather stalled as to how? if any other early 110 folks have tried this...please let me know...anyone out there?

Older 110s has tabs on the metal plate behind the dash. Td5s don't. You might need to transfer the tabs from your old metal piece to the Td5 one.
Did you get a complete dash from Stephen? If not, you'll need a lower dash piece as well.
Jim. The old wipers work on the new dash but the wiper rod opening to the outside is round on old dashes and oval on new ones. So I ordered the the Td5 rod and gear and used the old parts. There's one problem though. The new gear is bigger and you actually need to change a gear inside the motor as well. Sounds complicated but it is not.
I have a great right up with part numbers at home. I'm out of town until Sept 15. Remind me and I'll get it to you.

Here's a thread that I used to fix the wiper issue.
http://www.lro.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=102203&sid=d7a41719788d84f72ac0f0b3fcdb5a15
It explains everything. I added some photos here to make it more clear.
As you can see from the photos, the Td5 wiper motor bracket is located on RHS so your old wiper motor and arm won't fit.
I used my old motor and arm, mounted on the original location on tLHS and changed Td5 wiper spindles. Don't remember this part number but safarirover got it for me.
I also added photos that shows what I was talking about regarding the tabs on dash metal plate. If you're not using a Td5 bulkhead, you'll have to transfer the 3 tabs from the old metal plate to new one. You'll also need new vent door mechanisms.
Let me know if you have any questions

Ze...thanks very much for that further info...it confirms some stuff I've been digging up...as it turns out Randy on our list posted some great info on the reedex.com site as well as help from Doug at dividing creek rover and his brother Cabel...for those of us with early 110 bulkheads, it seems we have to re-use the old dash brackets and trim the dash plate so that it fits over the existing location of the wiper motor assembly on the left...this means early 110 owners can use existing wipers, gears and so forth...again, thanks for your additional info...by the way, great to see that clean bulkhead...wish I had one. I will take pics once I mount everything up so that it will be here on D-90 for future searchers...

Wiper system stays NAS (unless you want to change it)
Re-use the tabs from the old black dash backing plate and weld or rivet them onto the new one, then make the cut out for the wiper motor on the LH side and then you are good to go with factory parts from there.

Mike, good summary although mine is a former RHD brit model not NAS...indeed, finished it today...I used the old black plate with the vent handles attached to it as a guide for how to cut the left side to clear the wiper motor tube...then removed the brackets from the old plate and mounted them in the same locations on the bulkhead and then used self drilling sheet metal screws to attach the new black plate to the brackets...that was the only mystery to me...I'm sure easier for others but I've got mechanical A.D.D.
Now, on to making the speedo and gauges work and to try and find the connector plugs to splice into the existing dash wire loom...
