i'm trying to get the trany on my 97 d-90 unbolted and seperated from my engine... apparently easier said than done.

well, I thought I would list everything I have disconected in hopes that someone could let me know there is something else I haven't done.

so here it goes:

all cooler/hoses/pipes/etc
all electrical
9 bolts securing bell housing closing plate
3 bolts securing bell housing access plate
4 bolts securing drive plate to converter
RH and LH mounting to chassis brackets
8 bolts that connect tranny to engine (are these the bell housing to engine bolts?)

the last point seems to be my problem. the 97 d-90 workshop manual says to remove 6 bellhousing to engine bolts as the last step before being able to seperate the engine from the trany. i count 8 bolts. am I confusing the bell housing bolts for something else?

Let me know what I'm leaving out.
thanks

i didn't take off the starter motor. does the starter motor bolt run through the engine housing and into the bell housing holding the two together?
may be my answer...
