all right I am ready to be schooled. I have a V8 and I find my temp dropping when driving in the winter. (cold) I have one of the RN Muffs to help keep the heat up. Is this helping? Hurting? Is something else wrong. Or is it just that My 90 spent too much time in southern California?

I have one of these as well that I would let go for the same price if I can locate it.

If you're in a colder climate I'd say it absolutely would help.

Out here in the winter a muff is an absolute nesessity. a 300 TDI won't make much heat at 30 degrees if you aren't working it, any colder and it won't make heat at all. I've had muff's on all my diesels.

I've had muff's on all my diesels.I noticed the same with mine, anything below 45 degrees and I have to be on the highway to get good heat out of the vents. Last winter driving in the snow I got trapped behind a bunch of road graders clearing the highway at 10mph and I nearly froze.
This year I am going sans fan shroud and perhaps doing away with the fan altogether depending on how it does, but that wont be until at least December.

Matt,
I'll take yours if you can find it. Shoot me a pm.
Last winter on the single digit days i would let the truck idle for half an hour and it still wouldn't make heat when I got in.
Just another reason to love Defenders.

I tried mine on my V-8 on a cold day last winter. Started up the hill on I-70 and it almost immediately overheated. Haven't used it since.

I've got an extra one that I picked up for the 200Tdi. Turns out I don't need it. At freeway speeds, my temp is always around 185. Takes a while to get there though. I'm running a single electric fan only.

For you guys that have cold running cars in the winter you could change your thermostat. My 97 st was cold like this and a new thermostat fixed it.
