I was watching Fourwheeler on the outdoor channel and saw some video from the 98 top truck challenge. Someone had entered a 94 black D90. Does anyone know who this was? He didn't seem to do all that well.

After a little googling I found that Richard Larson was the guy in TTC and

Alternator (PPW 170 amp model) was blown in the mud pit. This eventually
drained both Optima's, so winching in the Mini Rubicon and Tank Trap
did not work.
Both front axles broke in the Mini-Rubicon. Rick had spares and we
replaced them on Wed night. He finished the competition and drove
the D90 home on Thursday. About 20 miles into the drive home the
batteries were completely dead and killed the truck. We swapped in
a battery from another truck and drove the rest of the way (about
50 miles) home.
The drag link was also bent in Mini-Rubicon, but I guess that's not
a "hard part," even though it was a heavy duty cro-molly replacement.

The competion was nuts! Some guy had a duelie sp? with nitrous pumping out about 700 horsepower. The guy who won had a scorpion http://scorpioncars.com/index.html . Good to see some else beating the crap out of their truck.

I saw that show as well. It looked like he had the power but could not put it to the ground. Most of the time the front wasn't locked. Nice to see a D90 compete with those big modified rigs :)

Hijack... I was watching the Discovery Channel on Monday and saw a show featuring 4x4's through the ages. They highlighted the original Hummer (H1) vehicle and the Land Rover Defender. Said the Defender is not a jeep or an offroader...but rather the most capable safari rig on Earth. When they were showing various action footage and still shots of the NAS D90 the caption at the bottom of the screen read "Land Rover Defender (NAS) 1997" and then "$62,000" underneath that.
What the hell?

It sounds like the owner of the 97 D90 told them either he bought it for $62K, it's worth $62K, or I want my truck insured for $62K for you guys to use it :?

It did look like he wasn't locked front or rear on the hill climb and when he was stuck in the tank trap. He's got more balls then me.

WHAT? YOU SOLD YOUR 90? HWY?
I've heard he had some heads problem while it was on ebay and he had to pull it off and fix the truck and relist it.

yup, the 90 is gone. the new owner took it from me this morning. it was a bitter sweet moment. its going to a good home, spend most of its time in a storage garage with other cars.
sold it with 36211 miles. I will get another and start over. maybe wait for the 2007, haha
