Just wondering if anyone on here can help me with direction on replacing my hub seals in my 96 Disco I. I just noticed oil all over the wheel the other day so it is either the hub seal (the oil is coming from a small cap in the middle of the hub housing) or the swivel ball axle seal. Where would be the best place to pick one of these up? RN? AB? EE? Anyone have experience with doing this and/or know where to buy them?
Any info is appreciated.
Thx!

You can call RN and ask for their hub seal replacement kit. Not sure the cost and it has been a long time since I bought one for my old D1. It is a simple job, just make sure you really clean and repack the bearing.

If you wheel your truck make sure you fit RTC3511 hub seals. These are the older type, but will fit all axles inc. Sali's. This is a double lipped seal & is much better than the newer type.

Cory, check out Bill Burke's home page. There is an article about repacking/replacing wheel bearings and seals. www.bb4wa.com

Thanks for all of the good info guys... I am going to spend some time this weekend servicing. Got Hub seals, tranny fluid/screen, new exhaust, stepper motor... Should be a fun weekend!
Thx again... C
