Ron- I am trying to buy the green smashed 90 out there, and if it happens, free shipping for the winch this far. Not a done deal yet...

That one I posted in the flea market? Are you going to part it, use it on the farm or rebuild?

rebuild- I have all the body panels- perfect easy winter project, IF he agrees to the offer.

Ron if you lose interest but John is able to get it, I'll take it. I don't feel like changing bumpers on the D90 for the 8274.

How about you sell me your bumper or your 8274?

Well I like the bumper so the plan is to keep it and get another winch.

I might be interested in selling the 8274 but have 2 other vehicles it could go on. It definitely would look good on a series :grin. Just started to rebuild it and the brake is putting up a fight, so at the very least I will finish what I started and see from there.

Be glad to Charles. I spoke with the seller(of the 90) again today, and he is a little hard to tie down, but it may work. I'll pm if it comes together.

Thanks guys, I'll let you know how it goes. I think Michael has me covered unless the guys sells it first - has someone coming over Saturday to look at it.

He said he'd send me higher res pictures, but the story is that its a 7+ year old winch that sat in his buddy's garage for 5 years, and now his for 2 more. Never used or mounted, wiring etc still in bags.

Figured I'd post an update. Michael's wife was kind enough to handle the transaction and ship the winch to me. It looks like UPS treated it like a pinata, including having it upside down at some point, but other than a crack in the solenoid box (which I should be able to glue), a ding on the rear motor cover (which I'll just leave or maybe tap out) and somehow bent the screws holding the motor cover (without damaging the cover) it's none the worse for wear. Oh, it looks like the drum isn't perfectly aligned - probably from the beatings with the fugly stick, or getting dropped, but I'll loosen up the fairlead bolts and the back support when installing it and I'm sure it will straighten out as the outer drum mount will be able to move slightly.

It truly does look unused. It free spools fine, and pulls in/pushes out just fine. Looks like I'll have to drill some new holes in my bumper and trim my grill to make it fit.

I called superwinch and the tech support guy raved over this model. Says the rear gears are sealed and he wouldn't even both trying to top off the oil (a small amount leaked out of the selector lever area).

So thanks to Ron for the lead, and thanks to Michael and his better half for doing the deal for me!

Hehe, don't think it's gonna happen. But anythings possible...

Maybe I'll sell you the 8274, but I have a bunch of time and money into that now so the current plan is to keep it. It's rebuild got put on hold behind rebuilding my hot tub pumps and getting this installed though.

Charles,
My wife tells me the "WENCH" as she calls it was insured at $700. Take pictures and have UPS pay up for the new pieces I can send/fax or scan you the receipt. She also said she was surprised the bubble wrap didn't keep it from getting damaged :rolleyes .

Thanks but I doubt it's worth doing whatever they end up requiring to actually get the claim through (I assume a bunch of hoops and red tape). None of it affects it's functionality. I'm just ecstatic that it works!

Glad it all worked. The 90 seller said he couldn't find title, but would get a replacement- all on a Friday. By Tuesday, I get an email, sold it. Hate dealing across the country with it not being a board member. Glad you had better results- just shows the help of like minds.

Sorry to hear that. Yeah there is no way this would have worked without their help (and it took two meetings with the guy to get it done because he "forgot" some things the first time.

Make sure to repeat how well you packed it and how you did not sign for it and that it was just dropped off so you could not note the damage on the package. They will say no at first, but eventually, they will give you some cash.

LOL you may be right.

So I called superwinch and they don't sell a motor cap. You have to get a new motor for $408 plus shipping. If they were to perform the work it would be about $50 labor plus shipping both ways (which was $135 one way iirc). Will definitely file a claim.

I ordered the solenoid cover which was $12 ($20 after shipping).
