Posted my supermoto on an site for sale a few days ago. I had a guy call that did not seem that knowledgeable about the bike. Real nice and talkative and friendly. He said he wanted it and would send a bank check for $1500 down to secure it. He would then drive down in the middle of January with a bank check for the remainder when he picks it up. I would think differently on the subject if he said the right things. I told him that he could bring cash upon arrival or arrange a bank transfer in which we would await a call from my banker that the funds have been transferred before the title is given up. He ended the conversation a little quick after that.
Watch out for checks that look good and take a few days to look bad guys. Tis the season and the economy to be a D-bag. Happy holidays

On here I have sent items for sale with nothing down and paid the shipping. I have told people to send me a check when they get it. It is a good group here and I have had no problems. Basea should see his transfer case before christmas. But random wierd..............I'm not sure exactly what I'm buying, but I want it???

Being a well known poster on D-90.com qualifies as I know you. :) I have done the same thing with parts and sometimes I will just say send me a check for what you think it is worth.

If it is a large purchase, get one of the pens that can find counterfeit bills.

I usually request 20s as they are much less likely to be fake.

and never use Western Union. It is a beloved tool by scammers. Western Union does a very poor job of verifying the identity of the person at the other end. Ask me how I know...never mind, I don't want to go there anymore :(

RonI thought you were a bank wire kinda guy??? or are those only for the large purchases where that much cash won't fit into a Pelican case?
