I have a 6BT in a 96 Ram 2500 that I would chop in a New York Minute to put into a Defender platform... My only concern would be the weight of the engine.

Dan has the 4bt. Love the sound of the 6bt but wtf with the straight pipe up through the hcpu bed.

I have a 6BT in a 109 like Doug said. It's all apart getting rebuilt once again. I like it but it is not for everyone, and I don't think it would work as well in a 110 due to the front suspension, but more power to you if you want to try. They really are a great engine but big, loud and heavy.

They really are a great engine but big, loud and heavy.The weight is what I am worried about. I have a feeling that in the end a 4BT might be the way to go. Any idea what the 6BT weighs?

Also what are the HP & TQ limitations of the R380 transmission or are you using the dodge tranny?

6bt is a little over 1000lbs. No way in hell an R380 holds up. It is at its limit with a 3.9/4.0 (rover never put it behind a 4.6). There is an NV4500 to LT230 conversion. Lots of talk on pirate4x4.com about it. I think advanced or marks sells it or Timm Cooper has made them. Mike Slade has a divorced LT230, but that might be a bit too long for a 110 (Slade's truck is a 147).

PS Ike Goss of pangolin4x4.com has done a 4bt in a series or two. Very nice guy (he owned my 1959 series bedfore I restored it).

it doesn't take much tweaking for the 6bt to explode Dana 60s either (notice no Cummins option in the Power Wagon)- but I know of a couple new F&R Sals axles in the UK should you want to try.
