I have a brand new(not reman) 1.4 Lt230 with the highly sought after 49% low Maxi-drive gears installed for the low range. I was going to use it for a buggy project of mine that kinda got side tract. I payed around $5k for the parts/labor/shipping. Take'n offers!

What kind of range are you looking for? Also, is there anything you need or want to trade for?

I am interested... Trying to justify the cost v. an under-drive. Are the gears too low to drive easy obstacles? Will I need to run some of the trails in high range?

It being a 1.4 ratio high range puts you back in your rev range on the road and cruise'n trails but the 49% low range makes it to where you don't even have to try any more....just aim and shoot and it walks right over whatever it is. The add-on under drive leaves you with more junk under your rig to get hung on and an extra shifter to deal with. An Atlas I or II ain't got shit on this set-up and you don't have to have any modifications. What do you have to trade?

Agree it's a better setup than aftermarket but how does the 1.4 get a better rev range??

Isn't the 1.2 "built" for that engine application, ie 3.9?

The 1.4 would work depending on how big you went with your tires. And to add to that....the 1.2 is a general box made for economy/power/common driving with no lust for life! Hope that helps.

"The add-on under drive leaves you with more junk under your rig to get hung on and an extra shifter to deal with"

No.
There are no issues with the underdrive getting hung up on anything as it is way up out of the way.
Yes, there is another shifter, but now you have much more flexibility than the MaxiDrive gears.
I seldom use first, low, underdrive but it is there if you want it. Sometimes I use first, high, underdrive, etc. Much more flexibility than either the standard gears or the MaxiDrives.
And yes, it is expensive, but it adds a whole different dimension to the D90. I've driven a D90 with the MaxiDrive gears and I have an underdrive and for what's worth I think the underdrive is much more valuable - and fun.
