don't you guys just want a Disco frame .... c'mon, you know you've always wanted to build a 100" WB Defender. And, as it turns out, I've got one I could sell you... :grin ...&, just for you Pendy, I could work in an adapter for an NV4500 :pimp ...

Yousef, Pendy,
I've got a '94 NAS D90 frame that's in good condition and without rust. Things have never worked out for me to use it.
I'd like $1000 for it and you pay crating/shipping costs. I'm near Atlanta.
Thanks,
Mike

Yousef yours can be fixed. I need to replace a wrecked one and have been looking for months. Hell I will fix yours myself for the right $ and get it galvanized like you want.

I saw that. Keith was trying to get it for me. But I need one now. He won't have it available until his project moves forward enough.
I would show up and strip the body off it if Jim C would let me leave with it.

Jim, I don't think I want it fixed it's beat up. If you really need one bad than pick this one up and that's if you didn't pick it up yet :) Keith told me you've looking for one for a long time, so go for it. I can wait

I checked with ECR back when they had to brush snow of them to look. They said what they have is to rusty. Did not seem to want to sell, did not even get into $. Maybe you and TwstdD90 can bait him to finish sooner. What are you after drivetrain stuff still?

Thanks I guess the barley pop is on me next time. I will keep a look out as well.
I really think yours could fix fairly easy to appear stockish with a bit more beef. I have tons of donor frames around for parts and such. Fact is you ought to build another one and keep this one extreme. Maybe your tag could float back and forth as needed?

Then if TwsdD90 agrees to his frame, at 1K if it is useable, that could work. The time frame could be good as well.

Is Georgia close to the TNLR event? Maybe Tis could drag it up for me.

Who is Jim C?
Pendy, I'm sure it can be fixed. All I need is to put the ears back, pull the rear X member slightly out on the right, bend back the outrigger support, and I have some small dents on the frame. I know it can be done but I think buying one is better idea but I could be wrong.
BTW Pendy, you owe me now ;)

Well, my name has been tossed around enough in this thread that I guess its time I showed up. :)
Anyway, my frame is good: bone stock, never wheeled, and its been southern all its life, starting out in FL and moving to SC. The only thing wrong with it is that it doesnt have 300TDi engine mounts, and it was easier for me to build a new truck from the ground up than to tear up my truck and having it sitting around in bits for months while I worked on my project.
Evilfij Ron is buying my motor/harness/drivetrain and I would love to have the chassis spoken for. Ron is right, with a cash infusion, my project will speed to completion.
I dont want to create a bidding war or make enemies here - have we worked out who wants a chassis and who is fixing chassis'?
Jim

And Pendy, you got any donor chassis' that you mind cutting NAS d90 fuel tank mounts off of? I want some for the tdi chassis, I dont have the equip to fab them for myself, and i bet someone here in SC would find a way to screw it up. I've had bad car karma in SC.

Mr.Cheney I thought it was you but wasn't sure.
Well I'm going with a diffrent chassis for my current Defender and keep the old one for "maybe" a new project. Anyway, what is the time frame on your chassis?
Just to be clear. Pendy is going with Mike's chassis and I'm going with Jim's right?
Jim I'll email you soon after I hear from Pendy.

My initial timeframe was to shoot for a fall (september-ish) disassembly of my truck. The other chassis should be all set up by then. If your need is more immediate, then we can talk. If I've got you lined up for the chassis, and Ron for the driveline, then I'll move more quickly.

Yes, yes I do, Yousef.
So I am picking up Mike Pado's at the TNLR event. You should make a run at Jim C's.
And maybe this latest request can be met with Gregs info, crobinson can chase one of the other two.
Jim Cheney. I can either make some parts or cut a couple off for you. I would be glad to help on this one. You will have to cut on your frame as well. Maybe I should take some pics if you or someone will post them somewhere.

Hey Pendy - when you say "cut on your frame as well" are you talking about the anti-roll bar mounts on the 300 chassis? I noticed they would be in the way, but is there something else I missed?
Either cut-offs or fabricated, I would really appreciate the help - thx.

As discussed with Greg H when he was tackling his. The rear crossmember interferes with the fuel tank. But modifications can be made. I will take some shots today and get Mike to post up.

Pendy, Yousef and Others,
As Greg said, I have a NAS frame, and it comes with Rovertym Heim-jointed rear links. Currently, my truck is all together, but I could start tearing it down tonight if you want the frame. I know that would make Greg happy. Let me know. E-mail or call (781) 576-9171.
Sincerely,

Pendy-
I really appreciate you taking all those pix - let me see if it have it all straight:
Here is a picture of my tdi frame, clearly the swaybar mounts at arrow 1 have to go, they are simply in the way.
Now I notice my chassis has a flange not present on the pix you showed of the NAS chassis - is this the part of the crossmember that interferes with the tank? If so I'm guessing that this will simply require trimming back for clearance?
Thanks!

Thank Mike for posting the pics. I need to teach myself to post pics online still.
Yes, you need to cut back the flang on the rear crossmember. If you are real good you can cut the flang a little wide and then bend it backwards. it could still serve its purpse as a gusset that way.
I am not convinced you should cut the sway bar mounts. As on the NAS trucks the gas tank skid plate is the sway bar mounting surface. But the tank still fits in between the frame rails. And the neck goes over the top of the frame. You need to test fit the tank to your frame. If this works you may not be able to remove your tank after assembling. At least downwards. It may have to come in from the top. An access through the cab floor, for the fuel pickup, may be needed.
I would not want to cut on galvanizing and/or welding if not needed. Why not a fancy skidplate that uses your swaybar mounts. And possibly turns and bolts to the frame again as well as contains the fuel tank. You can have the galvanizing removed at a facility and then reapplied after your changes as well. But I would try to work with what I had if it were me.
Jim Pendleton
Of course you could load it all in a tailer and drop it by sometime. I could give Yousef his frame when everything is where it needs to be and motoring about with its new heart.
JimC

Yeah, I think I like your idea of the fancy skid-plate/tank mount/NAS bumber support. Plus it would be so much simpler as a bolt-on arrangement.
I appears that the 300Tdi sway mounts are not in exactly the same location as the NAS ones, but your solution still sounds simpler.
I'm trying to do all this planning in advance so that I can minimize rover downtime, beucase I still drive the 90. I just need to chill.
