I badly want a set (at least 6) of these tires. There have been discussions (http://www.d-90.com/forum/showthread.php?p=187915) about a group buy+import but nothing seems to have gotten off the ground. I'm ready to put my money where my mouth is. I've given up entirely on finding them in the States. What I need now is to locate someone who can procure them in the UK (or elsewhere) and ship them over. Someone who imports regularly and who has their own conex would be preferred.
Who else is serious about scoring a set of XZLs? Let's put our minds together and find a way to bring these tires over.

I was going to recommend contacting safarirover as he had some but I see you have already done that. I have a container coming here on a fairly regular basis and would be fine getting these or whatever else (within reason) people want put in as long as I have room. Not really trying to start bringing in containers full of parts but I don't object to helping out a fellow rover nut...

if you are going to the trouble of importing, you may want to consider the 8.25 = 34", very nice fit, a tad difficult to find, but worth it.

I agree. I bought a set of 5- 7.50's from safarirover not long ago and they are too skinny- especially when you're accustomed to seeing all the 255, 265 & 285 tires people are mounting here in the US. I haven't tried it but I don't imagine a defender would handle as well with such skinny tires (although I could be completely wrong). My XZL's are sitting in my garage now & will most likely wind up on my series II when I get around to it. They look "proper" on Series Rovers, imo. My D90 currently has 255-85 R16 BFG's- they can look pretty skinny at times and they are a heck of a lot wider than 7.50's; I think you'd like the 8.25's better unless you're going for the Ex-MOD look. Just thought I'd throw in my $.02 as these tires are very durable and you'll be looking at and driving on them for a long time once you've mounted a set.

X3 on the 8.25.

I'm not interested in the 8.25; I'm intentionally going for the skinny look. That said, if there are folks that want 8.25s and it works out that we can get an order for both, that's fine with me.
Also looking for six ANR4636's, if anyone has a line on them.
Chuck, thanks for the response. I'm very interested. Do you have sources for these tires in the UK? How would this work?

Hi Doug,
Interesting. I don't have much use for the Wolfs (already have a set). I wonder if they would sell the tires only.
I'll shoot you a PM this evening to discuss.

That is a great deal. If you do not want the wolfs, then why not import them mounted and resell the wheel here. The tires would be very low cost after that assuming you can get the shipping cost under control.

Never really tried to buy these tires but I have plenty of resources and can look into it when I get a free moment. It would work easy, I will find out the cost and then we can decide how many sets you or anyone else may want and I will have them shipped to my agent and loaded in the next container. Hell, I don't really care about shipping charges unless there ends up being enough sets that affect what I am bringing in which of course then would force some of the container costs to be shared.

I would be interested in a set of 5. Please let me know if this is possible. I have them on my 110 now and they are great.

Chuck, I would really appreciate that. Please let me know what you find out. I'm looking for a set of six.

Probably not. Chuck or I could get them over cheaply. Its all about economy of scale.

Not interested in the wolfs, but if you find a set on 130, 16x7 rims, I'll buy the steel (or add to your order).

Chris,
Bozman has 5 wheels (ANR 4636) with rubber on them for sale here:
http://www.d-90.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23515&highlight=michelin
One of them appears to be an XZL already. I just shipped 5 steelies (no rubber) via Greyhound from Norwich, CT to Annapolis, MD for $110 bucks to give you an idea on shipping costs.

If somebody's getting quotes, give me a number on 8.25s.
I have a fresh set of 6 Michelin XZL 7.50s but if could score 8.25s I'd move the smaller tires over to the disco.

I have had the 7.50 and the 9.00, but if the 8.25s are available for reasonable $$, I'll take 10 please.

I like the look of the 7.50s on your truck and didn't think they look too small. Are you having second thoughts?
As far as the 8.25s go, I spoke with a local fleet dealer who called their rep at Michelin who did some digging. Michelin has stopped manufacturing the 8.25s completely and there's no telling if they will ever make them again. There are no 8.25s available in any Michelin warehouse anywhere. Some dealer somewhere may conceivably have a set collecting dust but Michelin isn't aware of any.

The preverbial want what we can't have I suppose, but that is a great fit if any are found.

You might try the 225/100/16 I think it is about the same size as the 8.25

Oh I'm happy enough with 7.50s but I think 8.25s might be even better. I've gotta play musical tires with John and see how the three hundy with the 1.4 tcase turns them before I do anything crazy.
