Weep Holes?

I am changing my Headlights this weekend. I have a quick question. Should I drill a small weep hole in the fron running lights? I have heard that you can sometimes fry your ECM if your rear tail lights fill and short. Does this hold true for the front as well?

Fry your ECM from your lights???????????????? That’s a new one, it’s possible if a lightning bolt hits your tail lamp that it would kill your ECM but no weep hole is going to help with that. I wouldn't worry about it to much; I would be more worried that your ECM is in a dry place if you’re in water up to your headlamps. The most damage your headlamps in water could do is short out a fuse. Oh and after your headlamps have filled with water it takes 3 days before they dry out again.:grin

The weep holes are on the EE site. I haven't done them yet, but was thinking of it. Apperently someone serious messed up their ECM and the diagnosis was water in the tail lights caused a short which caused the failure. It seems far fetched, but an ounce of prevention so they say.

I don't know how you would fry your ECM by doing so. The lights don't run directly through the ECM. Believe me, I know. I've permanently removed my ECM and my lights function as they did before. Shorting them would blow the fuse and maybe the relay, as designed.

You also might be better served by installing the military light boot kit. silicons rubber boots over the light harnesses.
