has anyone pulled their doors off? My question is - do the phillips/bolts have a backing plate or just nuts. Can you just remove bolts or do you have to get inside backing area to reinstall? And why hasnt anyone machined a stock looking hinge, that works like the jeep harddoors? JP

Bolts go into captive pair of nuts inside bulkhead.
Easy to take off / change bolts or hinges.
You might find it a bit of a B*****D to re aline the door. Note position of door and hinge before dismantling with some refrence markings with a felt pen so that you can get it back to the same point when rebuilding.

I take the doors off all summer, I don't have any problem realigning them, I just put the bolts on but don't snug them up, then I close the door and tighten them up and the doors are allied! The trick though is to leave the bottom hinge on the door and the top hinge on your 90. Then use a 3” strip of 1” wide strip of aluminum to hold the hinge closed. Drill a hole in the aluminum for the bolt on the door side of the hinge. It is hard to explain I can take a pic later.

Some peope have just taken the bolt out of the hinge completely and dropped a cotter pin or similar into it, so it is just like the jeep doors. I, although, have not had the balls to try that one, plus it only takes about 10 minutes to get each door off i f you have a #3 Screwdriver or ? # Torx driver. Make sure you are careful when unscrewing them because the first time I took mine off the captive bracket decided to spin and that door was not coming off until I went to the dealership for it to be fixed. (Expensive!).

Too rainy in Indianapolis to take the doors off right now.
