I live TriBeCa and parking is free after 7pm on most streets.

Make sure Horsey drives his defender, by that, I mean he will be wearing his heritage grill around his neck. Also, make sure you wear protective gear, it's possible the Horse may get overly excited...

I feel Horsey might get treated better on the east coast than on the west coast. I mean he was allowed to sweep up as Jim worked on his truck.

Yeah after 6-7pm the street cleaner comes by, so we can gather and park on the street right after the time expires. That is our best bet in getting everyone parking together.

I'm Tribeca too. I'll think about some others, but off the top of my head there are some good places with lots of street parking.
Tribeca Tavern. 247 West Broadway...right next to the Ghostbusters Headquarters
Front and rear entrances (both with parking), bunch of beers on tap, pool table:
http://maps.google.com/maps/place?sourceid=ie7&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&oe=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=tribeca+tavern&fb=1&gl=us&hq=tavern&hnear=tribeca&cid=17527101733536987484
Antarctica. 287 Hudson Street
Lots of beers. Pretty good parking:
http://www.antarcticabar.com/
Croxley Ales Restaurant. 28 Avenue B
Bunch of beers. Fair street parking I'd say:
croxley.com (http://maps.google.com/local_url?q=http://www.croxley.com/&dq=croxley+ales&f=q&source=s_q&output=js&hl=en&geocode=&vps=3&jsv=212a&sll=40.72547,-74.001932&sspn=0.044622,0.076818&oi=miw&sa=X&ct=miw_link&cd=1&cad=homepage,cid:6558306462242912923&ei=NJOaS_TiHomwzgTlpKSAAg&s=ANYYN7njGfH9Uc6f7glwVKHdvvTH1JZCsA)
The Half Pint. 76 West 3rd Street
Right near NYU, good beer selection. Might be a little tight to park around there.
thehalfpint.com (http://maps.google.com/local_url?q=http://www.thehalfpint.com/&dq=half+pint&f=q&source=s_q&output=js&hl=en&geocode=&vps=4&jsv=212a&sll=40.72547,-74.001932&sspn=0.044622,0.076818&oi=miw&sa=X&ct=miw_link&cd=1&cad=homepage,cid:12524397308589221084&ei=q5OaS77WKpHCzgTy5qD6AQ&s=ANYYN7kKi3SK3EzcexC8bOD_XyZM8wFWlQ)
White Horse Tavern. 567 Hudson Street
Been a bunch of times. Parking should be pretty easy?

Someone pick a date to meet. I'm avail most weeknights
but won't have my d90 since I take the train in.
Sat or Sun date would pretty much guarantee a drive to NYC or wherever we meet.
I know Joshua would like to see a Arles ST :rolleyes

I'm down as well. If we're in that area I'd recommend Tribeca Tavern as it is basically right there, and they have a bunch of beers on tap, TVs for March Madness, pool table, two entrances (one on West Broadway, the other on 6th Ave/Avenue of the Americas), and pretty good non-metered parking by both entrances...oh, and outdoor seating to the 6th ave side if it ends up being nice out. Just a recommendation.
If you guys end up wanting to do that place, here's the directions from Jason's place to the W. Broadway Entrance:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=88+Leonard+street,+ny,+ny&daddr=247+West+Broadway,+New+York,+NY&hl=en&geocode=Fe5KbQIdmseW-ylXyfdAIFrCiTHh8ezqDElJ4g%3BFVdVbQId6sOW-ymX8WO5ilnCiTEPe-msuDarmQ&mra=ls&sll=40.717048,-74.004589&sspn=0.000669,0.0012&ie=UTF8&ll=40.718624,-74.00632&spn=0.005554,0.009602&t=h&z=17
or to the 6th Ave/Avenue of the Americas Entrance:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=88+Leonard+street,+ny,+ny&daddr=40.71951,-74.005215&hl=en&geocode=Fe5KbQIdmseW-ylXyfdAIFrCiTHh8ezqDElJ4g%3B&mra=dme&mrcr=0&mrsp=1&sz=17&sll=40.718624,-74.00632&sspn=0.005554,0.009602&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=17

I need to ask, how does the east coast really feel about horsey showing up in his cardboard 90? I mean we mock him pretty hard on the left coast. I am pretty sure west of the Mississippi he is considered a tool. I am just wondering if we are going to have a east coast west coast thing like biggie and tupac.
I mean if he is your mascot that is totally fine. I do some volunteer work with a retard myself.

I think 99% of us really don't care if horsey gets a truck or not. If he does, great! If he doesn't, no worries. Its just the fact that in almost every thread, I have to read something that you posted about horsey that make no sense. That is what is annoying.
Lets say... he gets one... am I going to have to read a post by you about how he now owns one? I may have to kill myself then! Sure it was funny at first but now its just ridiculous. God forbid I had to come to this site and search "horse"
I could careless what car you show up in weather it is cardboard or not, as long as you like to talk about cars, drink a beer and are normal then that is fine with me.

Not really. You can all suck it. As for Horsey, he provides nothing to the board but comic relief and is a gofer. I wish him the best and have looked at trucks for him and in the end he will never buy one as he is the goldilocks of buyers. I am not the only one he has sent looking for nothing.

Actually I think he is a good helpful board member. I too think you should try make a concerted effort to limit the bashing to relevant threads and not pull it into every thread.
bjf
March 24th, 2010, 04:12 PM
Yes I add nonsense all day long but I also post relevant stuff and add to technical discussions and projects etc, including my own projects that help others so take the good with the bad and whatever I post never takes away from the relevant info on a technical thread.
BTW why would you search on horsey. Hopefully if you need to work on your truck you are searching a relevant term

When you lived in NYC area, did you own a defender? Perhaps you were much like Josh, trying to make a decent living, but couldn't swing the cost of owning a D --- yet. Now you own two. Big fucking deal. You must be a better man than him. Enough so, that you freely berate him.
You defend yourself as a someone who "contributes" to this forum which makes this okay? So, you say you've looked at some defenders for him and he's a no buyer and that pisses you off? I'm sure you had a great time doing so - after all, we all love defenders here and like to talk about them, right? So lets talk defenders, not this useless horsey crap. It's so old that mold is growing on the jokes. I don't even get what you are saying in your last post.
Your reputation will only deminish as this keeps going. East Coast-West Coast thing, trying to force members here to take sides on this issue by location? Give us all a break.

What isn't there to understand about wearing assless chaps?
I could careless about my reputation so you want to tell me about it diminishing go for it. Have me kicked off. I really don't care. The people on here that I deal with for actual real stuff I will talk to regardless of this board. My asking anyone to take sides is about as important as me asking if you hate me because I am Jew. Well ....
Secondly I left Hoboken in 2001 and at the time it was not an option for me as I was 25 and broke. I did not however sit on this board or any board telling people I was in the market, constantly going through want ads, asking people for advice, posting to technical discussions about nonsense and being throwing up ads saying "not mine" As for wasting time looking for trucks I only looked at a couple 90s in pics for Horsey and told him what to look for. No real time wasted for me. I know he has sent a couple of people to go inspect trucks for him and did nothing about it. It might be fun for you but for most people with a life it is a pain. When you have someone trusting you to make assessments you need to be careful and really go through the vehicle. I did it for one board member who wanted a truck in LA and it took time and effort that if frankly he wasn't in the market for the vehicle was a waste of my time and the sellers. In my case it wasn't.
Oh and since you really want to start with me and think I am douche I might as well be a real douche. You ruined that truck with that POS rack.

I'll try to think of somewhere in Hoboken where we can all park together semi-legally. If in Jersey City I'd recommend Michael Anthony's Restaurant ( www.mar-jc.com ). It's right on the water overlooking NYC and they have a secure and large parking lot. Hoboken and Jersey City have easy access to the Holland Tunnel, too.

Josh, following on to your offer in my for sale thread, if you can collect me I'd love some decent Mexican food. That's got to be the number one item on the "not available in the UK" list. After a couple of very disappointing experiences I stopped trying and stuck with curry.
I'm getting a SIM card today so I'll have a phone number.

In some parts of Edison you can get good Curry as well.... This place has the best Mexican food I have ever had in the states. I would compare it to many of the places in Cabo San Lucas....

If anyone has any of the following that they could bring tomorrow so that I don't have to wait on parts, let me know. I may have to write you a check though as my ATM card is in the mail.
-Infrared Thermometer - borrow real quick.
-Potentially a thermostat.
-Extra Winch line for a Warn XD 9000i? Long shot I know

there are some different ones depending on when they open. I found one the other day that was 74C or something like that. opened super early. I think it was for a Jag or Mini but fit our trucks too. I want to try it out if I can remember where i saw it.

F you:). Never saw the sign or anything. Drove up and down JFK Blvd. Went all the way down to where BP and some dinner, hung a Uturn driving over some "compact parking only" lot (S3 109) at the dinner on the corner. Went the other way past the Hess station, then back to the Hess to fill up. And twice drove down to and along the waterfront area. Never saw another rover, except for the range rovers. Oh well at least I tested out the transfer case and new muffler lol.

We were wondering what happened to you! You should have taken down one of our numbers or something. I don't recall the exact address, but it is located on the East side of JFK Blvd East at the intersection of JFK and Pershing Road, between 47th and 48th Streets.

If anyone is coming and has a functioning interior dimmer switch I could use for 5 minutes, let me know. :) need to see if that's what has caused no lights on the dash or clock with the headlights on. Took it out, cleaned the connections - no dice. :(
