Driving Lights

So I bought some lights for the front of my 90. I want to wire them so I can turn them on without anything else.

What do I need to do. I want the switch in the factory location on the left.

Barry,

If you want them on without the Key, just run the wires from the switch to a relay to the battery.

If you want them to be activated only when the key is on, same procedure but the relay needs to be hot from an accessory line or fuse box place that get hot with the key

Not that complicated.

I always have my off road lights independent of any other lights

Did you buy the lights new or used? Most lights come with a relay with the wiring harness, but not all.

Which ones did you get?

So I have been setting up my lights and I have a question. I used a hella 4000 wiring kit. It has all the wires, relay, etc. I made some changes as I am using hella 1000 but the concepts are the same. My question is off the switch is one wire that goes to the relay and one that is supposed to go to the high beams. I want my lights wired so that I can turn them on whenver. Does that mean that this wire should go direct to the battery then?

terminal 86 in the diagram is used for the switch, if wired to your high beams they come on only when the high beams are active (driving lights in this example)

you want to run this to your switch and to continius pwr (i.e battery) for independant control or to switched pwr for ignition on control in your case.

this is the relay "trigger" terminal.

Thanks so as in the diagram I have two wires going to the positive on the battery. one from the switch and one from the relay?



I want mine to work independent of anything else.
