36x12.50R15 TSL/SX questions

greetings!

I've recently moved to the coast and have found the need to go with a taller and wider tire for the swampy terrain. Does anyone have any experience with the 36x12.5 TSL SX? Has anyone experienced rubbing with this tire and a 3in. lift? Would fender flare trimming be required? Also, if I used this with a wheel with 4.25 in. backspacing( like GCR's 15x8 AR steels), would the tire rub when turning? Could a custom wheel with more backspacing solve this problem?

Right now my SSR's have plenty of tread left, so I'm just trying to get some opinions on the tire, I might even go for boggers, i haven't decided yet. Also this would be a 2nd set of tires for off-road use only.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I am not sure but I have seen 36" on 90s with 3" of lift and the fender flares were trimmed back.

Boggers throw alot of mud but they need allot of POWER.

has jorge had any problems with them? Anything he finds annoying(like rubbing with a particular wheel), or that they don't preform off-road like he thought they would?

Hey,

Those tires are pretty good offroad but SUCK on the street. I would not recomment them if your truck is a daily driver. To answer your questions:

You will get rubbing with a three in. lift
Fender Flare trimming is required
The tire will rub with turning
Farther offset will solve the rubbing on the radius arms when turning but will require more sheet metal to be cut off

My truck has a 4" lift & 4" bump stops and the trimmings to the fenders.The rear fender flairs were replaced with front fender flairs for more room and the swampers only touch the radius arms turning the wheel almost all the way.(pros)The swampers are very good off road and onroad and very stable at Hi speed ,(cons) the tire noise gets louder as speed goes up.I'm very satisfied with the set up.

Hey Jorge what kind of milage do you expect to get out of the swampers?

From the info available they last up to 30K,but I'm in the process of buying 35" mtr and have those mounted on stock wheels to use most of the time.I'll try to use the sets according to the type of terrain and if I have the time & energy to change the sets.

I changed tires back and forth on my old truck, they were only 31s and they were still a PITA!

Jorge, stock wheels with 35's might rub alot since the backspacing is up there. You prob. would be better of on steel 15x8's

Tony from Motosource has 33" tires on his truck I'll give him a call and see if he has any problems .IF you look at the pics of the G-4 challenge Tony's vehicle does appear to be almost as tall as mine.
