I am looking for an ash tray. I can buy one new but was reallly fishing to see if anyone may have one laying around they could part with. The reason is I am looking how to creatively mount a Street Pilot to the dash. If someone has a better idea I would love to see it.

Thanks!

Troy, What are you looking to do? I bought a mount (http://www.gpsdiscount.com/products/index.html?a=26) that simply attaches to the dash by adhesive tape. Fits fine. No fuss, no muss.

I recall seeing some other swivel mounts, but can't remember where, if that's what you were looking for.

Loyd;

I actaully have that mount as well as the "bean bag" I was concerned that the adhesive tape might not like the plastic dash very well. If I decided to peel it off do you think it would come up with out much of a probelm and not leave any indication that something had been mounted there? I just don't want to trash the dash top. My thought was to get an ash tray, pry the lid off and screw the GPS mount to something that would sit in the ash tray itself. As with most of the stuff I do I am over anylizing way to much.....

BTW - The Blue Ridge Land Rover Club is having an event in northern VA the end on July. Interested?

Troy, The adhesive comes in two types: "temporary" and "permanent". I have no idea what's the difference and how much more sticky the permanent one is. I've used the "temporary" one and it holds just fine. I imagine that when I pull it up, I'll just scrape off as much as I can and use some lacquer thinner or something to take up the rest. It doesn't appear as though it's trashing the dash. At $10, it's a cheap and easy experiment, I think. Once in a while, the easy way to go actually DOES work.

What are the details on the BRLRC trip. Is that the Geocaching trip listed on their website?

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll go with mounting it to the dash with the temporary tape.

It is the geocache rally listed on their web page.
