No Limit Expeditions 110 Rehab

Hello everyone. Recently our company No Limit Expeditions www.NoLimitX.com were passing through Texas and came across two Defenders.. a 110 & a 90. To make a long story short we rescued them from a ranch and began refurbishing them. You never know what you might find when you loose your way.
We just finished the 110 and will be taking it to the Overland Expo in AZ. We are now starting on the 90 and post some photos when we make some progress.

That 110 looks amazing. Very nicely done. I hope the stance on my rebuild will look similar to yours. Please post more pics and thanks for listing the specifics of the rebuild. How is the forward visibility with the 285 on the hood?

I have had a 285 on the hood of one defender or another for six years so I don't mind it.

It does take some getting used to....What I don't like is that it weighs a ton!! and lifting the hood is a real workout. :angry
We feel like the 285 is the ideal size for what we do and it's really not so bad. Surprisingly on sh*t roads the 285 kills a rear door much faster than a hood spring so swing away carriers are a must as well.

I saw the 90 listed on CL, but isn't it a 87? I recall that it was a farm truck and wasn't quite 25 yrs old yet.

That is the truck, it is a 88 with a clear Texas title. I ran across the guy with the truck and it turned out he had a 110 also.

I hear that...some deals are not deals, but certainly better then buying a $25k plus truck and finding out you have a lot of work ahead of you also.

True, it's not that bad compared to the prices out there...we have already replaced the rear crossmember, ground the chassis and waxoiled, paint & body work, added side windows, rhino lined inside and now starting on the motor..it needs a valve job at the least.

I bought my truck last year and have replaced: exhaust completely with cats, head gasket, valve job, radiator, hoses, thermostat, fan clutch, and countless other odds and ends. These are the spring projects: rebuild swivels (they are leaking a little), replace blower motor (and heater core while I'm at it), new tires, replace the LT77 with a R380, and cross seals. I love this truck!!!!

How has the rhino lining worked out? I'm considering it for my truck. Does it "help prevent" or "help cause" rust? I've heard conflicting statements on this. Looks like I may be moving the family to the Boston area from TX, and have never had to really be concerned about rust before.

I have been really happy with it...we have it in our other trucks and we run them in Central America and it is very wet..we load wet gear in and out and no problems....I think you get worse issues with water & moisture sitting under mats & carpet ...the other thing I like is if it chipps or scratches you can just touch it up on the spot. We used a rubber undercoating product on the inside of one to try it out and it's pretty good as well...it took much more to get good coverage though.

Speaking of this fine truck... I happened to have the chance to meet and chat with James yesterday for a little bit and got to see the 110 up close. Its a great looking rig and really like the build up. I look forward to seeing the truck more as you come through town James!
