I need some clarification on wing vents. My new to me D90 is getting some minor rust fixed and I thought I would place the wing vents that are cracked. Down East said one said should be bland and the other vented. Mine were both venter. What does this mean and is he correct or am I missing something?
Thanks,
Michael

The passanger side one is used for the heater while the driver side one is either blocked off or used to help vent heat from the engine compartment. I have the open vent on the driverside. Either way is fine.

All things being equal, I would have both open. The cooler the engine compartment, the better. Granted, it may only allow minimal cooling, but I certainly would not go out of my way to close it off.

I replaced my closed vent with an open vent from rovers down south for the reason mentioned by Davis.

If 90's are like 110s inside, it's a smart thing to cover the pass side intake with duct tape if you are following on a dusty trail. No sense clogging your hvac system with dust!

Thanks for the info all and excuse the poor spelling and grammar as I was typing in darkness.

I agree with the others about 'blocking' off the left vent, no need...
On another note, this months issue of Land Rover Enthusiast's 'SHOP WINDOW' section had a company that had some different sized vents, and you could even buy a galvanized wire mesh to put right on the vent, to give it a neat look and keep leaves and what not out.
Here's the link: (it's toward the bottom of the page)

I contacted the people in the UK that Mr. Orros posted the link too. They said if I got some people interested they would sell them at a "reduced" price. I dont know how reduced and how many would have to be bought. I just thought I would mention if anyone might be interested before I called RDS?

yes, $50 sounds high for LR106FMS.
I don't know which one you're thinking about but I want that one... for less though.
How many would have to be sold and what kind of discount?

Phil,
Sounds good, and ask them if we have to buy all one model, or if we can get a bunch of different one's. I like the glossy one with the wire mesh in it already.
And for anyone with a soft-top. I was browsing around that link I posted above, and I noticed a 'canvas hoods' section under the 90/110 menu. Had a lot of different hoods, 110's as well. Lot of neat stuff for all LR's...
Just my .01 cent

Hi Nicholas.
I am the guy with the web site selling the wing top heater scoops. I have sent Phillip the prices for the
fiberglass scoop that has the mesh already fitted. Should you need any more information you can post
here or e-mail me direct simon.mps@virgin.net.

Simon,
Sweet vents eh...
Does your company make those or do you 'outsource' ?
Well, why not post for everyone to see, that way we don't have to email back and forth and it can be posted here for record & backup.
How many would we have to buy in order to qualify for some kind of discount ?
And, what is the price on the 'glossy black' on that I chose ?
Are all of the items listed on your website ALL of your inventory ? Or is there more ?
Thank you very much for posting.

Phillip,
Well put me down for one, but the only problem is the shipping cost is going to be to one location and then 'whom-ever' is going to have to ship out to everyone...
BIG pain in the ass... and just to save ten bucks, probably not worth it.
But if you get 10 people that want them, then I guess count me in.

If enough people are interested I will but it doesn't look like it will happen.
