View Full Version : Light switch bad?

My headlights and dash lights stopped working when I was out the other night. I parked the car and when I turned it back on, the lights werent working.

The light switch in "running light" position works, running lights turn on and dash lights turn on. But the light switch in the on pistion turns all of that off. No lights, running lights or dash lights. However if I pull the turn signal lever to the brights position, the bright headlights turn on.

I checked all the fuses and I'm guessing a light switch. Anyone have any thoughts or experience?

Thanks.

I didn't. Stock headlights. I'm betting it's the light switch

So I'm looking for a replacement switch and the ones overseas look to be the best price. One question, the switch ad says "Defender Master Light Switch from VA chassis onwards"... is my NAS a VA chasis or will this light switch work?

Here is the link: http://www.brookwell.co.uk/item/876/defender-master-light-switch

Thanks guys!

VA is after 1995.

RA is 94, SA is 95 TA is 96 VA is 97 (not 100% sure but the interwebs will tell you if I am exactly right).

So no, the connector is different.

Mine went out years ago and I keep using it. Try playing with the positioning, go very slow and at some point, it should turn the lights on.

You can also take it out and clean the contacts.

I think it is a right of passage as a D owner at some point, among other things. Driving at night with no lights or just running lights due to a bad switch.

Buy two when you do find the right one. Carry a spare.
