I am selling my dad's Classic affectionately referred to as "The Holy Grail" as it has been one of the most reliable Rovers he's had. He is the second owner - bought it at Bear Valley back in 2000 the same day I got my LE from there. At the time it had 54k miles and now has 164k. Very well maintained and used as a daily driver. Originally from Connecticut (bought and serviced at LR Darien) has no serious rust issues. Some minor rust on the upper tailgate but very little anywhere else. Always maintained here in Houston by Rover specialists. Needs nothing and is ready to drive cross country. Only apologies are driver's seat memory and mirror not functioning properly (I'm told it's just a switch) and rear windows don't roll down (also some sort of switch that's found under the glove box).
Many photos here:

Truck is located in The Woodlands, Texas (15 minutes north of Bush Intercontinental Airport IAH). Asking price is $6,500 OBO.

It is most likely not the switch, the battery in the ecu has corroded and is eating away at the board. Remove and replace the battery now before the seat stops moving. Batteries are $18 shipped and it is a 30 minute job to remove and replace the seat and ECU and maybe 10-15 miutes to resolder on the new battery. You might be able to save the mirror function by repairing the circuit board. All 93-95 range rovers are doing or have done this so used ECUs without corrosion are spendy and hard to come by.
PS nice looking RRC!

Thanks for the heads up. I'll have the tech take a look when I take it in to see if that's what's going on.

I spoke with my mechanic today when I dropped off my '06 for some work. The seat issue is the seat ECU battery corrosion. It is beyond repair and will need to ultimately be replaced. They have it bypassed somehow and have gotten some of the seat functions to work. I don't plan to do any more work on that since the seat works well enough for us.
------ Follow up post added May 25th, 2010 02:56 PM ------
Also, will entertain trades and partial trades for a Discovery II (preferably already somewhat built).

Since I was the one who brought it up, it seems as though your mechanic bypassed the ECU and used the wiring out of an earlier Range Rover. This is a common repair for this issue. Since this is done, the mirror will not work, but the seat should continue to work fine. I would leave it the way it is and it would not bother me at all. Should a future owner want to put back in the ECU, used they are about $200 and a new battery is $18 shipped as I said. In any event, if I did not already have an LWB the issue if would not stop me from buying your truck!

I have uploaded photos of the undercarriage to the picasaweb page and attached a few here.
Also, when we were under it we noticed there is a healthy leak from at least one of the oil cooler lines. We have ordered them and will have them replaced before the end of the week.
Some people have asked about records and history...so here's what I have. We have records for most of these items - especially the early ones. We started using a new shop that is more relaxed about records and we didn't think they were as important anymore with the mileage we're at...but at any rate...here's a list of what's been done and approximately when.

I love Classics. I own one right now that is also rust free and in good running condition. I put a lot of time and money into it. It's all about the love, I know it's virtually worthless at street value. The one thing that is for sure is that the moment you replace an old part with a new part it becomes an old part, so a list of what's been replaced is meaningless. I believe that your price is grounded in desire and not anything close to reality. Lack of rust notwithstanding. Kelly Blue Book values this at 2475, which I think is being quite generous on their part.. While I wish you good luck in this sale, you might want to make it more attractive.

I disagree as I think the price is in the right range for a well cared for, rust free truck. Look at ebay sales for nice ones (not junk), but we should not speak ill in for sale threads anyway.

I've been around the D90 community for a long time I never expected I'd get asinine pricing comments here before they showed up on discoweb. It's a '95...not a '93 or a '91... I looked at prices for '95s before I set the asking price on this one. I believe it's a fair asking price for what is most likely one of the few remaining rust-free '95 SWB's in NA.
I would sooner set fire to it than to sell it for $2,500. :kiss

You're in the wrong place for non asinine comments. Here they flow like wine, or porter, or lager, or spiked punch or, well you get the point. Standing by my words, which I do not consider asinine in any way as they are backed up with solid market research...

Actually, he is not in the wrong place Bill. Kevin has been here a long time. Your comments and those of the other post are inappropriate. This isn't dweb where people shit on for sale posts. Your "solid" market research consists of a KBB link? You can't be serious. A '95 SWB in that condition (no rust) is highly rare . Perhaps your ""solid" market research should point you to more independent sellers like RMR or even the for sale board hear where Art sold his TWR in the +/-$6K range not a few weeks ago.
Please tell us, what does your "solid" research consist of?

I agree - a *clean* '95 is a tough find.
Had I not recently bought Art's "TWR" truck for $7400 plus the cost of getting it home, being searched for drugs in Kansas and getting a speeding ticket for 6mph over in PA..... I would have no problem buying this truck.
*Maybe being that it is not a TWR edition and 60K more miles than mine I'd offer him a hair less, but his price is very reasonable. I'd have paid more for Art's truck for what it's worth. These soft dash trucks if truly clean do bring a very inflated $$ value due to the rare nature of them - much like a NAS D90.
Good luck with the sale - if I didn't have mine I'd be knocking on your door. Someone will do the same.

I think it's a somewhat reasonable price. With 160k miles I might ask a little less, but not much. GLWS.

LOL...didn't you just get rid of a '95 Classic Art?Yes, so I could buy my second favorite '95 Classic color, epsom green, but I've always wanted a white '95. Actually it was in favor of one that was already set up for wheeling. As we all know so well, accessories cost a ton, but don't add much to resale price. I have always had a fondness for the White '95 though.

Once was enough on the side of the highway. The poor truck got the brunt of it. At least they were "gentle" with Maya (the truck).
By the way, are you out the "gift" yet and need another fix? :)

DougOh man we've been treating it like gold and using sparingly, actually have to admit to hiding it from our 18-year old because he uses too much. Thanks again, much appreciated.

Dale,
Got your message last night - I spoke with Sherry at the transport co and they will be picking the Range Rover up later today! That was quick! My dad is having a rough time saying goodbye. Other than this Range Rover he has never kept a car more than two years.
Have fun with it. I hope it's as good to you guys as it was for us!
