I had an awesome day today! Doug was kind enough to invite my wife and I to join him on his boat to watch the Blue Angels put on a show for the Naval Academy graduates. They perform over Annapolis but you get a fantastic view from the Chesapeake bay.
Here is a sneak preview of our day. I literally took thousands of pictures so just grabbed a few off the camera to sample.
Thanks for a great time Doug.

Saw them flying around on Tuesday while coming back from Eastern Shore. Was that the day?
I've been out there during this event before way back in the 1980s. It was utter madness then, can't imagine what it's like now. I think they used A4s or sumthin back then.

That's my favorite part, too. They perform over Lake Washington every year and buzz the tree tops over our house. Rattles the dishes and freaks out the dogs. Awesome.

Bill,
Tuesday is the practice flight day each year.
F18's now days.
Glad you could make it Charles.
According to the Blue Angels those super tight formations have the planes 18 inches apart

Yeah I have more pictures of the boats - the one I posted doesn't show the vast number that were out there.

I was able to see my first air show at Nellis Air Force Base last November. It was the most awesome show I have ever seen. It was the Thunderbirds and not the Blue Angels but I bet it's similiar. Freaks me out when they are so close and manage those manuevers. Those pilots must have special seats for their enormous balls.
