Defender D90 lift

Hi to everybody! I have 95 D90 ,all stock. I want to lift this this baby,but I don't want to do any modifications to it..new drive sfafts and ... And I like to keep original rims and tires.My ??? ..can I just change springs and install new shocks?If so,what size of springs and shocks I need ? And were I can buy them? I don't want to spend much money too :)) Thank you .Vadim

Just put a set of Old Man Emu 751 springs up front, and 764 springs in rear. Then get shocks to match along with a steering stabilizer. Should run you around $560 for all the parts, plus install or do it yourself. This will give you around 1 - 1.5 inches of lift and it will be an all around better ride. There are tons of places to get this kit, so I am sure somemone will chime in with the best price.

Or go with Rovertym springs. Having done the spring swap its really easy and should only take about a day to do them.

What about shocks ? What size of shocks I need it?I heard Blistirine brand its good.Were I can buy them?

You'll need to get 10-12" travel shocks. Or you can lower the rear shock mounts to keep your stock shocks. The Bilstine's are good one. I have them on my truck right now. You'll want the 7100 series. Look through the vendors section for places to buy them.

I just did the lift Mathew described. OME 751/764 and went with N115/N44 shocks. It's actually a 2" lift initially, then eventually settles to 1.5" or so. I haven't gotten off road with it yet, but the on-road ride was dramatically improved. Got the shocks and springs from EE.

There is a cheaper way.

You can swap your rears to your front and then get new rears.

My personal "favorite" set up is Range Rover classic Rears in front and 220 rate springs in back (OME 764s). Gives about an inch and a half lift and unlike the old man emu heavies the ride is actually better than stock.

As far as shocks I know this is not a popular opinion but if you go to more than a stock length shock (8in) you should replace your brake lines with longer ones (I got mine from paragon performance a LONG time ago).

I like the stock shocks as they are soft, bilstiens are too hard in my opinion as are OME (softer than bilstiens though) but everyone else seems to like them . . . . so what do I know :)
