Well, I was perusing through ebay Motors (search for 'defender' as usual...) and I came across this auction for a rear tire carrier and I noticed 2 things...
1. The vehicle posted doesn't even have the spare tire carrier on auction INSTALLED on the D90.
2. The D90 listed is MINE !!! It's before the roof rack, lights, tires, MANTEC rear tire carrier (too funny) and a bunch of other doo-dads...
I'm really not pissed, knock yourself out, just thought it was pretty funny.

What is also funny is that I noticed this by random about 1/2 day before you posted! Your's does not even have a swing away carrier! Too funny. Some might get irked about seeing them use the pic without permission, but personally I am psyched any time I see my truck in print--it looks like you feel the same. Too funny.

Is that the Mantec carrier?

Andrew,
I just installed one on my truck about 2 weeks ago and I can say that I don't think that it is. The one shown has a 'piece' sticking out of the left side and my Mantec one doesn't.
Who knows what it is? Or who the guy in the photograph is ?
Who puts their picture (by itself mind you, not an 'action' shot actually using the auction item) in an ad to sell a automotive accessory ?

Is that the Mantec carrier?
No, it's the factory ST carrier.
Follow-up Post:
Nicholas, I had the same thing happen with my 90 but never on ebay. I was surfing the net for Rover sites and I noticed two of those sites had a picture of my D90. It really doesn't bother me much as long as the pictures are put in a good use ;)

Yousef,
I'm right there with ya' ... they can knock themselves out... :)
And the funny thing is that this guy must be some idiot if that is indeed a 'SOFT TOP' spare tire carrier and he's listing it with a picture of a 'STATION WAGON' ... LMAO !!!
It takes all kinds.

Thanks, I was just wonering cuz I may be in the market for one, but I haven't been able to find a picture of one without the tire on it. I was just wondering what the set up was like... Thanks - Andrew

Nicholas, did you have the factory rack on your 90?

Yousef,
That picture is from when I purchased the vehicle, approx 2 years ago... Since then I have added the factory safari roof rack. (I just posted a recent pic under the 'looking for help' section of the forum... the post name is 'PIAA 90 PRO XT...')

Did you remove the upper tail lights when you put the rack on? I'm thinking about putting a rack on my 90 again but since I have the euro style tail lights I have no idea how the lights will work with the ladders?

Yousef,
Good question... not many pick that out. Yes, I have the 'euro' style lights as well...
When I installed the roof rack (brand spankin' new) I only had to remove the right lamp and the roof rack fit perfectly over it, you can't even tell. And the left side ladder doesn't even touch the left lights at all.
Here's a pic of the right rear side.

Nick, can you take a pic of that left side with the lamp for me when you have the chance? Thanks.

Hey Nicolas,
I found this on ebay, and I remember you're is one of the few D-90's I've seen with upper rear tail markers.... This guy is in VT, so I didn't think he was you, but I think he's using your truck:

Anyone know what kind of tire carrier that is? Might be a good deal.

Looks like Steve of Joyryde Inc. really likes that pic of your Defender as he's using for another rear tire carrier auction. Same faux pas exist in this one as the last time though he has removed his pic.

Yup...that's definitely a shady auction. Hey Nick, is that the TEN stick figure on your rear quarter?

Glenn,
You won the Cigar!
No shit, no one ever picks that out.
Yeah, I used to be really into PJ... followed them for a couple of months in my early 20's... :)
However these days... I don't really care to listen to any of their stuff... it really 'blows'.

Yup, I agree Nick... I saw a clip of one of the last perfomances they had in Jones Beach (NY), and they don't even sound like they did in the early nineties. Ten is one of the greatest albums to ever come out in the nineties.
Oh, and not to continue the hi-jacking.... - that ebay auction sucks! :grin
