Front wheel squeak

My passenger side front wheel squeaks when driving. I thought it might be the brake shield so I removed it to see and the noise is still there. I parked the car and had the wheels turned left and I grabbed the tire and rocked it back and forth. No play but I can hear the squeak.
What could it be?

Shocks and springs are new.

Suspect the front wheel bearing is failing. Check it out because it's very scary if it fails at speed on the road.
Expect the steering to try to go on full lock as the wheel locks:eek:
I was passenger in a truck when this happened, not good:(, no crash though.

Less scary is a small stone stuck in the brake caliper, try rotating the wheel both ways and see if that gets it out, failing that pull the pads and see what's stuck in there.

The wheel really needs to be off the ground to check for play, if you can feel it when the wheels are on the ground then things are not good mechanically.

If it's an early 110 then the diff oil gets into the wheel bearing and keeps things all slippy so it's probably a stone in the disc somewhere.
My wheel bearings have done 200,000 miles:)

Only if the UJ is turning. Give the UJ a shot of grease and see if the squeak goes away.

i'm getting a LOUD squeal when slowing down at a light (10-0 speeds) unless i hit the brakes hard. I suspect its some dried mud or a small stone stuck btw the pad and rotor as said above. I tried to clean it with some hot soapy water to no avail. I guess I should pull/rotate the 2 tires on that side seeing if a stone is in there when the wheel is off?

Brake rotors. mine done the same changed rotors. sqeal gone.

Sounds like rotors to me too. Mine has done this off and on for a while, just need to man up and buy the beer for a wrenching party.

I had my front right bearing seize on me on the interstate on a long trip from NC to KY. Not pretty. Feels like one break is locking up. sudden slow down/drag feel with pull to one side then let go, caught again a few moments later then let go (this is the bearing beginning the seize), then it felt like the breaks completely locked up. no crash/not uncontrollable, but there is only a few moments of opportunity to steer off the highway. finally get over and out, and the front right hub is smoking, and I can hear the cast metal "tinkling" the way heated metal does. After getting flatbeaded to Nashville LR dealership, turns out the bearing had completely seized/fused to the hub. Needed a new hub assembly.

Ever since then, on any trip over an hour, I have a standard military practice of touching each hub with my finger at gas/rest stops to check for abnormal heating in any one hub.

If you have a looming bearing problem, you can limp awhile around town, but an extended drive is where it will manifest with little warning.

For purchase of a new vehicle, first thing to renew is the hoses, then my recommendation is to repack the bearings.

just made my appt for Roverland to do my rear brakes, we're looking @ ~$250 for brembo parts, about $700 total. Excited to not be deafened each time I slow down.
