Installing the bimini top for the 1st time with my new truck. Where do you attach the straps the run out the back of the top?

Tks - Michael

You need to mount 2 little brackets on the back of the body tub. The straps go thru them and pull tight the top.

Are these the 2 plastic brackets on either side of the rear door on the top of the sill? They don't seem overly strong.

Thanks,
Michael

No, they are metal brackets that are screwed in with sheet metal screws. If your top is new it should have come with the two little stap brackets and 4 screws.

Or you can simply run the straps down behind the seats, under the internal roll bar, back up under the seat belt, and attach to the snap above the sliding window of each door.
Did that make sense? :confused
Give it a try.

I was also thinking of just removing my rear seat and attaching to the brackets that lock the rear seat in place. Thanks all - Michael

Michael, just an fyi... Be sure that the Bimini is perfectly in place at the top of the windscreen before you put tight pressure on the straps. The first time I put mine on there was a small buckle where the header rail was not perfecly in the groove. When I tightened the straps I ripped a spot.

ps if you need a pic of the bracket dave is talking about let me know.

I just wrapped them around the back of the cage once, then snapped them in there. They aren't tight at all, and they flap around, but so far there have been not problems as the top connect to the bar above your head anyway. It also allows for ppl to sit in the back as long as your not on the highway as the straps would knock them out.
