This is a "mini project" for door cards on a ST half door. This was Pendy's idea but I did all the heavy lifting.

1. Get new door cards

2. Get rivnuts and inserter (I used size #10 as this is strong enough for a #10 plastic screw that won't torque off)

3. Drill holes in door at insertion points (yikes)

4. Insert rivnuts

5. Prep door card by gluing plastic spacers to back of door card (this reinforces the plastic from splitting and tearing)

6. Install door card using #10 plastic screws

Got all supplies from McMaster Carr (they are excellent to work with although a touch pricey.

John - that's really awesome. Would you mind posting up any McMaster part numbers for the items?

Nice execution !!!

Love that rivenut tool. I am still working with the worthless Marshall one I purchased from Snap-Off years ago. Need to make that happen one day.

Jerod......nice eyes!! It is a reproduction of the Porsche Spyder 550 made by Vintage.......significant aluminum went into this one.

It was in great shape until Pendy dropped a 15 pound front skid plate mount on the hood :eek: TRUE STORY.

It's been a great project and love it "almost" as much as the D90.....they compliment each other well.

Doug.......Kenny is correct......they are the ones John (Backstay) sells. Very nice card and fit well with minimal modification, ie overdrilling some of the holes to match the holes in the door.

Continuing with the off-topic comments - I was thinking replica but, like never asking a woman if she's pregnant, I've learned never to ask/assume on replicas. Some people get touchy for some reason....

Anyway, by far one of the most beautiful Porsche's ever made. I totally get the yin/yang of the Porsche/Defender pairing. Are you posting pictures of that build on another site?

(I need to get to the city and see these things - PM me when you have an open house)

Ha ha ha ha ha

Next you will be talking about how I broke your vice. And sent the visiting neighborhood honeys fleeing, just by coming out of the garage into the daylight. And talking with my sling blade twang.

You can keep the hacksaw blade. I already have one of those.
