Opinion: 86" paint

Looking for some opinions on the color of my 55' 86". I'm considering RAF blue (satinish not gloss) or the CARC substitute Sand. The RAF blue is 'original' but that is not of a high priority. I would be spraying myself so that is a concern. the body is good but not perfect. I like the vintage look so I'm keeping the original patina cappings.

What do ya think?

I kind of like the blue. What are the other Series I original colors? i thought the original blue was Marine blue.

Deep bronze green
RAF blue
Grey??

Most were green (all US trucks I believe)

I like the RAF blue ... and there's an LRSOC discussion about that color / colour over there. And having said that, the S1 light green is in the running at our house opposed only by "Pastel Green" for the 109.

I painted my own truck CARC Substitute Desert Sand and still vote for RAF Blue. It just looks right on a series 1 and the modern military paint would look out of place.

Dunno, I have just been looking at the 1955 stuff. I'm not a total purist either (I'm putting 2a axles under and swapping the motor). This truck was an original north American import so it was green. But I already have green defender and a green VW...

There were more colors (colours? :)) available in '58 with the Series IIs. My '61 is a different Sand that was only used 58-61. I really like it and it looks great with the olive soft top.

Buy the original series I. I prefer the darker blue that would (I think) be correct on a 56 (there is a 58 107 SW that color in the book). The lighter color is closer to marine blue.
