We Defender owners are a pretty unique group who love our machines. I was wondering if anyone had any other interesting toys in their garages, cars, bikes, etc? (like a Defender isn't enough) Most of my toys, Harleys, MGs, etc have given way to the new baby, but the 90 and my '64 Porsche 356C coupe have and will continue to survive, wife be damned! ;)

Top Drawer Bicycles - Custom built - road bike, cyclo cross bike, and single speed mountain bike. Plus a boat load of Campy and shimao parts. The new Downhill Mountain bike has been ordered. Basically, the garage has turned into my own bike shop with pro tools stands and workspace.

Compressed air, I thought about making a combustible fluid type but I don’t think anyone I know would want to be near me with explosives. Although I have seen the hair spray units shoot pretty far. I think I should be able to go at least 1000 ft with compressed air. I just haven’t had the time to play with it, even though I have plans now to make a bigger one now that Home Depot has 1 ˝ sprinkler valves.

Good question. I built a separate 4500 sq. ft. home (which has porn wall paper) specifically devoted to my porn collection. It houses all my stuff plus some special display cases for all the porn icon look-alike blow up dolls & figurines............oookay this is getting weird. :blush

I can't lay claim to ownership but the next best thing is my father owns it. He pays all the bills and I get to sail on it. I was just up in Nantucket this past weekend and had to leave on Sunday and miss the race he won. The two greatest days for a boat owner are the day you buy it and the day you sell it.

Gotta love a really fast hole in the water. I don't know if many of you guys know about Fountain Powerboats, but they are built right down the road, and they are holding a race in a month of the river where they are built. I am gonna sit on my freind's sailboat and watch multi million dollar off shore racers fly up and down the river.

Randy,
The boat in that picture makes filling a 150 gallon tank seem like a bargin.
In case anyone was wondering that hole in the water is 118 feet long and does 70 mph, oh yeah it has a 5000+ gallon tank and burns 16 gallons a mile. http://wallypower.com
It reminds me of a d-90, does 70 and burn gas like no other.

The Alfa is incredible for its time - all alloy engine, 4-wheel discs, 5 speed tranny - just really well spec'd out for a 1968 car. Mine came from the original owner with only 55k original miles. Alfas are so relatively cheap, everyone should have one just for fun.

Indeed. Don't forget the mechanical fuel-injection, dual overhead cams and hemispherical combustion chamber. Have you replaced your points distributor with an electronic one from a GTV? Best upgrade I ever did. Drop-in replacement.

Chance,
My name is Jeff Stone, I'm the guy who bought your GTV in 1999. I sold it in 2002 to a guy in Denver named John Barnes I think, he repainted it, restored the seats, and put on some panasports. Last I saw he sold it as well about a year ago (I remember the add on the AROC-USA website). It was an awesome car while I had it and would LOVE to track it down again (anybody know where a 1974 GTV vin AR3024656 is LET ME KNOW :) ) By the way...this was essentially my only reason for registering on this forum was to say HI to Mr. Geurin and let him know about a car he once had. Hope your wife, newfies, and roadster are all doing well!

I need to get in touch with Mr. Barnes (runs a store in Denver called Audio Unlimited) and see where the GTV went. It's one of those things that wouldn't matter in the grand scheme of things one bit except for the fact that these cars are getting HARD to come by and knowing the history of one is HUGE.

Mmmmmm. Toys... I really just have two other toys--one is my insane mind (not kidding--I keep myself very busy with bizarre OCD thoughts and whims like building the D90) and my gear room. I don't climb as much as I would like (job sure crimps my style, but pays the bills) but it is my #1 passion (family excluded, of course). The D90 is close second, and I think the next moab trip will have to be a great combo of the two. Here is one of my gear stashes...

What is it about us D-90 owners? Seems like we all own telemark skis and fixed gear bikes. I guess that our quirky choice in vehicles is indicative of our non-conventional choices for other recreations.
My list:
Truck: 94 D-90 AA Yellow ST #63 (daily driver)
Skis: K2 World Piste 181cm telemark w/ G3 Targa X/9 Race bindings, Garmont Ener-G boots
Bike: Lemond Fillmore, set up fixed gear (waiting for this toy to arrive)
Computer: Apple PowerMac G5 Dual 2.0GHz, 2GB RAM 0.75 TB disk
Guitar: 1996 Martin DM
Dog: [this space not currently occupied; awaiting future purchase of house]
What else could I possibly want?

Right now most of my toys are still being built, my MTB race season doesnt start til april. I race semi-pro DH, so its safe to say I've been through alot of bikes over the year. To put it into perspective since 2000 ive probably had over $70,000 worth of bikes, not that I actually paid for any of them in full or anywhere close to it :grin Hell, that Nicolai DH race bike was insured at $11,000 and I probably had $3K into it, oh how i wanted it to get stolen:tounge
This season I signed my team for a big deal with Morewood Bikes, so they sent me these 2 DH frames which are sitting in my basement, waiting for parts from various sponsors, to turn into my DH race bike, and my FR/Slopestyle bike

Before I started racing I had several other bikes, a couple of turners, a Giant AC, a Kona, an old stumpjumper, and a few cannondale road bikes too. Here are a couple of pictures of the turners. The yellow RFX was from 2002, and the black one was my FR bike of 2003

I've always preferred bikes with seats - but thats just a personal thing. I love all the urban techical stuff those guys do, but I cant even ride a skate board - I can't imagine myself doing tricks on a seatless bike.

both my trials bikes came with seats, but since the rear tires were as wide as the seat, and I never sit while riding the bikes, I figured it would be just as easy to remove the seats, and sit on the tire while stopped.
