1994 D 90 aka Yeastie for sale
With the new baby coming and me going to half-time, we just can't afford it.
-1994 Defender 90 (121,xxx) aka Yeastie.
- It was originally a POE but all of the proper cage pieces were added by Ron for a soft top.
-Very good condition soft top (Best top) 9/10
-Fiberglass top. Works but could use TLC. Has some large cracks.
-Auxiliary Fuel tank. Everything is there it just needs hooked up.
-New floorboards both driver and passenger side.
-New interior mats both front and back.
-Spare set of steel wheels (5)
-Good BF all terrain tires.
-Seat risers.
It is not show quality, has some dings and dents but I would trust this truck anywhere. We drove it back to Cincinnati and Pennsylvania for our wedding last year and had no problems whatsoever. I try to drive it on a daily basis but it sits for weeks sometimes. It has never let me down and one of the best running d-90's I have ever had. Transmission and transfer case is fine (R380). The stereo and speakers work but are in need of some love. Jim C. added some stainless bolts and galvanized a few items (tail light bar). Frame is fine but there is some rust. I properly fixed most of the rust issues. It is missing the rear sway arm. I am looking to get 16k out of it but make me an offer. If you are interested e-mail Byron.Straw@gmail.com for additional pictures of the usual areas. Also, needs a rail kit for the soft top.
Some general pictures can be found at http://picasaweb.google.com/byron.straw/DefenderPics# I think.

Just because the POEs are kind of oddball I wanted to ask... this still has the "50 state" 3.9 V8 in it, right?

I can't post them from here, but don't forget that Yeastie was my Moscow truck, so I've got cool pix of her sitting in front of the Kremlin, on the battlefield of Borodino, in front of the US embassy etc.

She lived in Switerland with her first owner. It has had synthetic from him and me (second owner). Not sure what JimC or Bstraw did, but she was very well cared for through my ownership.

Would also consider partial trade for a Series III. More pics at http://picasaweb.google.com/byron.straw/D90Album#
Click on D-90 album. Thanks JimC and Ron for the input. This really hurts, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I've been watching it on craigslist and on here. I can't decide whether I'm sad to see I've missed my chance, or happy to see the temptation removed.

Hey Guys -
As a few of the previous owners know and others may have guessed from my recent posts here I'm the newest caretaker of "Yeastie". My wife has changed Yeastie's name to "Beastie" for obvious reasons. I know she'll always be Yeastie to Ron, Jim and Byron. Anyhow, just wanted to officially say hello to everyone. I'm new to D-90's but not new to Rovers. You can see my current inventory list in my sig line. Please be patient if I ask a few silly questions or questions that may have been covered 100 times. I know how to search but if I don't find an answer in the first two pages I'll be asking again!
Special thanks to Jim C for making the time to meet up with me while he was here on leave. He's a great guy and I really enjoyed listening to his stories about the trucks' history on his watch and it's time in Russia, etc.
So far I've replaced the leaky waterpump, performed a LOF, tightened down a few loose things and added some getto style duct tape to the crunchy fiberglass roof. Lately the fan for the heat and the speedo only work when they want to.
Thanks again -

Rob-
Give me a call sometime, sorry I have not been checking e-mails. The heater blower motor just needs the connection cleaned, a very easy fix. I can walk you through it. I am still pretty sad about the whole ordeal but am getting through it. So happy to see her go to a loving home. In the meantime I have picked up a few series (II and IIa), I will have updates soon.

Well, I think I'm ready to pass the torch.
Since I purchased her she's had the following done to her:
New Exmor Trim seat pads and upholstery, added full set of new Raingler nets, new Tuffy (large) console w/ cupholders, new Kenwood deck, new speakers, Billit style machined shifter/transfer case knobs, new waterpump, new belts, new tune up parts, fuel filter, LOF, new ECU (brain), detail, new ARB winch bumper with used Superwinch (needs wiring completed), etc.
I have about $21,000 into her so I'll set that as the starting price.
Search "Yeastie" and you'll find the history on her. As she sits she runs/drives/stops very well and has no known immediate needs. I drive her to work most everyday.
Thanks guys!
P.S. I'll add some current pics tonight. PM me with questions.

I talked with these guys about the Arles 90 listed for $33k but was unable to work a deal, they simply wanted too much. They offered this truck to me for $26.

May 15th, 2012, 01:37 PM
I test Yeastie back in December. At that time it had a blown head gasket and I barely made it around the block. The Arles one had the loudest transmission and stalled at every stop light. There was a red one at the Lynnwood showroom that I couldn't keep going in a straight line. Those were the first 3 Defenders I ever drove, but I still kept looking.
I hope Yeastie finds a good home at a fair price.

Rob, Ron, and Jim, I am sure you would agree. And yes Jeff, she IS a she, and and a damn good one at that!!! Hell I just realized I never even changed my "vehicle" status since I sold her!!!!

Original owner was "fruitpunch" from the RN board. He bought it in the US in 1995 (POEs were late production and sat on the lot forever) and shipped it to switzerland as it was cheaper to buy a defender in the US than Europe back then. He added the side tank as he and had planned to run dakar, but never did. I bought it off ebay from him around 2004 or so. She still had the POE top and had 255 85 R16 swampers and the temp sensor and fuel injector wire switched, but otherwise was very well cared for. I had her for a while fixing that issue and converting to a soft top, put on some BFG ATs then I sold to JimC (which is where she acquired the name--the center cubby had mold in it from me leaving the top off all the time and water getting in it) and JimC took her to Russia. I did not want to sell, but I was broke. JimC had her in Russia and did tires and a bunch of JimC OCD stuff making it nicer. He also put on the fiberglass top. JimC brought her back and sold to Bstraw (I almost bought her back, but Bstraw seemed like he wanted her and would give her a good home). Not sure who Bstraw sold her to.
