So who is up for some Rovers and guns?

Come the NOVA Rovahs and Guns event the weekend of 26-27 March at the Chester F. Phelps Wildlife Management Area near Remington, VA. Okay, that sounds more formal than it really is. Chime in what day works best (26th or 27th of March).

The Chester F. Phelps Wildlife Management Area has a decent open air rifle range:
http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/wmas/detail.asp?pid=17

It's located about 20 miles SW of Quantico, or about 20 miles NW of Fredericksburg near Remmington, VA.

The range closes for the year on March 31st.

Go to the CF Phelps page for details and rules on the range.

If we have enough people sign up, I can order up some sexy t-shirts.

My little girl's birthday party is that weekend so I can't make it. What are the target ranges at this place? I've never been there and I didn't seen anything about it. 100 yards? more?

I hope there is a 0 missing in that number to justify the drive :)

Is there even a place around here besides Quantico that has a 1000 yard range that civilians can shoot at? I don't know of any.

It is the only hunt that you can sit on a five gallon bucket under a tree on a nice day and not have to move to shoot birds. Then you take your birds, clean them and wrap them in bacon and have a beer.

It is more of a "laid back" hunt then say packing out an elk.... And I love to dove hunt..

This is where I have been 3 times http://www.quakerneckgunclub.com/

Know that club, haven't hunted over their lease.

I used to do a lot of pheasant hunting here http://www.hudsonfarmnj.com/ .

We used to all get together and dove hunt in Texas here http://www.74ranch.com/
If the dove hunting was off the guys would take you out after wild boar which are a major nuisance to their trophy deer operations.

You could get to the "range" at the Cove in about the same time, and there you have major appliances to shoot at and rednecks to gawk at. God do I love that place . . .

And it loves you.

I just cleaned my grandfather's .243 and am interested in sighting it. I maybe could do that trip sans my non-moving rover.
