Anyone put in a rear drawer system on the floor? I know these are big overseas and from what I hear, Tuffy carries one that will fit in the D90. Has anyone done this? Any pics or suggestions?

My Brother has one in his heep. They are real nice but take up most of the floor space. Do you have a rear bench or jumpseats? I think they might have to come out for the drawer to fit in. Other than that he bolted it right to the floor with quality fasteners and a backing plate under each bolt (under the truck). Plenty of storage and secure to boot.

Nope, I did away with my rear seats a while ago. They are practically useless for me anyway and take up too much room that I need.

I have seen them installed and they are pretty trick. they do take up most of the floor space. I'd install one myself but I need the rear seat.

Dave - sorry to change topic but...
Read, just moved to the area - Ventura County and am looking for fellow D-90 owners. Info on area, good repair shops, trails.
Can you help? PaulB '94 D-90

I'm changing my topic back!!:grin
So I broke down and decided to install the rear drawer from Tuffy. I picked up the "regular" size with is 8+ inches tall. They also make a drawer that is 13 inches tall. Install was easy, you have the option of bolting to the floor or the sides of the tub. I chose the sides because I would rather have bolt holes higher up for water clearance.
The drawer itself is nice. All except for the thin metal that makes up the top. It's far too thin for a box this size and tends to bend under weight. My way to remedy this was to get some Lexan, cut to size of the top and bolt through on the sides. I placed spacers between the lexan and the top of the drawer system, so that I could mount my fridge plate to it. I figured this was a bit nicer and slightly lighter than the carpeted plywood the disco boys like so much.
Add this with the tool box from Troy Smith (also recently added to the left), and I have a nice system for tools, fluids, spare parts and offroad accessories. The rear drawer system leaves about 13 inches of space left on the d90 tub from the drawer to the roll cage. So their is still room for a duffel bag or something. The action on the drawer is smooth and I guess as long as I'm careful about how much weight I place on it, I should be in good shape.

Heh? Are you going to make fun of the boots again?

Dave, That looks great! Attention to detail, as always.
I also installed two of Troy's boxes. Called Tuffy and got two locks that were keyed the same as my console. You should be able to do the same with your drawer, just give them a call with your key #. I think they were only about $8
BTW, is water intrusion much of a problem for you?? ;)

Can someone post some info on the boxes from Troy Smith please. Where do you get them, how much, etc.
Thanks,
Mark

Dave, I thought by know you would have setup the boots so that when you get in the 90 you can just slip them on. We all know how much you love taking your 90 into hood deep water and getting out to winch.

Well, last time I did that (MAR), Kearney was nice enough to walk through the waste deep water to access my winch. Gotta love a fellow wheeler who will sacrifice dry pants for the rest of the day to help you out of a tough situation...
I'm thinking waders for christmas;)

Mark,
Here's the link from the old BBS. http://www.d-90.com/discus/messages/13/1706.html?1064410459
I thought that Troy (troys) said he sold all in the run, but if there was an interest, he'd make more. They're super! Larger than Tuffy and they fill the bump-out in the tub over the wheel well. Mount them over the wheel well, or just behind the seats.
Dave, How much higher are you going to make your snorkel?? Installing a periscope, too? :grin

Snorkel for the exhaust first. Did you see those series trucks with the gated exhaust like a big rig? Very nifty.

Ken, do you have a close up of the lock installed?
Of course please include the D90 hat in there...

Here's the underside. (Sorry, the hat was too big for this view.) I'll have to post the top view from home tonite. The lever is originally longer and has a notch in it. I trimmed down to fit the lid. 3/4" drill hole, 1-1/2" from the edge of the lid.
I was rethinking the periscope idea. I think you also need to change your high pressure bottle to air and connect a SCUBA regulator.

Check out this storage box option from TBR UK. I think it looks a little better than the black Tuffy boxes.

It certainly does and I considered that. But the cost with shipping was going to run between 800 and 1000 dollars. I think storage is important but not at that price.

just to add to the options, my truck's PO had one of the smaller Delta toolboxes installed just behind the bulkhead. It's as wide as the bed (inside the wheel wells), about as high as the wheel wells, and maybe 18" deep. Probably cheaper than any of these slick, specialty boxes, but then again, it's function isn't the same as these drawer systems. I'm sure you could find it on their website. In fact, if someone in the DC/VA/MD area wants my old one, it's available.

Shown with the dust covers. Doubt that you'd need them with a SW.

Dave, I'm feelin sensitive about my redirection of topic - glad you changed it back, photos look great but here I go again as I need my floor. The Troy box looks really interesting. Can / will Ken share info on where to find those??
Oh, and your boots ... My kin are English and to them, owning and riding a L.R. and NOT wear wellies is a sin, so dude run your course your way! And yes I sin by rebelling against wellies

No sweat Paul. We don't hold grudges or berate you...
Thanks for the comments on the boots. I know I've converted a few with them. But that Hippert guy. He's a "special" sort of D90 owner (and I mean special as he may qualify for McLean Hospital down the street from me ;)). So I know I'll never convert him to the ways of the galosh.
Mike, let me know when your ready to be committed to the loony hospital... :grin

HEY! I just escaped from that place last year!
And the galoshes interfear with with my connection to the Mothership! When I put them on the radiowaves from Lucas overide the signal from Solihull and it fries the mainframe. Why do you think I drive around with the top off all the time.
Anyway I ran out of orange pills so I am switching over to the red ones today so if anyone has an idea where I can get these let me know.
