View Full Version : Drop Curtain order

Drop Curtain (http://www.d-90.com/mod/curtain/index.html)

I've had a few requests so I thought I'd see if there are more people interested.
Need at least 10 orders before I'll do another run, otherwise I'll try again later in the year when the weather starts to get colder.
The price is still $170 (including shipping), but because of past experiences I will no longer accept personal checks. Payment must be either a USPS money order or certified bank draft and must be received before I have the curtain made.
Please email me directly as soon as possible if you want one, and include the words "drop curtain" in the subject line so it doesn't get deleted.

It depends on how long it takes to get 10 orders together. Actually making the curtains takes about a week. In the past, I've usually had the curtains before I've had the payment. This time 'round I'm not purchasing the material until I have payment for all the orders.

I think thats a good choice for you Art. This is the 3rd(?) year you have done this and enough people have bought some that can speak up on their quality and effectiveness if need be, including myself.

I imagine this would work well to keep it cool in the cabin in the heat, also. Hmm, I might be interested...let me know when crunch time is and I'll see if I have the disposible cash at the time.

I bought a used curtain this past year from another D-90'er. It works great! In Phoenix, we have blazing heat and the A/C could never keep up cooling down the entire cabin of my softtop. By reducing the cabin size by about 60% with Art's curtain, I ride around in total comfort not to mention that the ride is also much quieter because I don't hear the rear side windows flapping anymore. Thanks Art for this great product.

Does it work on a NAS 110? If it fits, I am in!

You mean it actually reduces noise, too? This sounds better than sliced bread. I think I better get in on this order unless I want to wait a year....

*UPDATE* 16 Aug'04

I still need a few more orders to make a run. If you're interested, now's the time to speak up.
Feel free to email me with questions. I'll also consider trades.

You mean it actually reduces noise, too? This sounds better than sliced bread. I think I better get in on this order unless I want to wait a year....I noticed it being a bit quieter as well. The curtain is made of a layered tough felt type material on the one side so it does act as a bit of a baffle and the window part is tough plastic. I do notice a reduction of the noticable noise I pick up from the rear windows.

Art,
I will be able to check a 90 Wagon Hardtop tomorrow, from that info, I should have a good idea on if the confirguration is the same. Will post tomorrow the outcome.

Thanks Steve - I'm interested to find out if it will fit a 110.
If after you look at the 90 wagon you're still unsure, I will have some time tomorrow evening when we can meet up somewhere to test-fit the curtain on your vehicle.
Plus I'd love to see that 110 up close :)

Art,
If it's not too late to get on your list... I'm in. It sounds like a good price for something so useful. I think back to a trip to Jackson, Wyo. a couple january's ago (is anyplace on earth as f-ing cold?), I would have paid a pretty penny for a good drop curtain on that trip!

I can't help but think that your drop curtain might help stem the flood of dust that blows through my soft top from rear to front on those long dirt roads. I could do away with that fancy piece of duct tape that seals the top of my tailgate.

I'll drop you an e-mail and watch this thread hopefully.

thanks,
Rod

whenever I see a thread in reference to Art's drop curtain, I feel compelled to add a post.

I bought one from Art last year, and I absolutely LOVE it! It looks factory, it's made well, and it makes a DRAMATIC difference both in heating and cooling the interior. (When my soft top is on in the summer, it works great with the AC too.) Plus it looks cool.

In any case, if anyone's on the fence about whether to get one of these or not...I'm telling you...get one. You won't be disappointed.

I'm finally getting around to wanting to order one but i just installed my badger top this past weekend. The Badger top velcros around the roll bar instead of snaps like the BesTop. Anyone using Art's curtain with the Badger top, if so, how'd you do it?

Thanks!

Thanks! Check the write up page on these (link should be in Art's first post). I added my comments about using this with a Badger top there. I actually and going to try it this week with the snaps on the curtain undone and resecure the velcro of the top to reduce the noise.

I have enough people committed for me to do a run. If anyone else is interested send me an email, I'm placing the order this week. If you haven't sent your payment yet, please do as soon as possible.
Questions, email me: amvigil(at)comcast(dot)net

As to quality vs. Badger:
You're not comparing apples to apples. The Badger drop curtain is a high quality supplement to the Badger top. It closes off the area behind the front seats and seals up completely like a truck cab. I believe it even zips to the top. It's a finished product and pretty nice from what I've seen.

My curtain is a purposeful and inexpensive way to keep heat (or cold) in the cab portion of the D90 by blocking off the area behind the front seats. It is easy to fit and remove quickly and can be used with any top combination. The plastic window is at least the same quality as the one used in the stock D90 soft tops.
It is not as pretty nor does it seal up like the Badger, but it doesn't pretend to be the same product, it's not.
It simply works - well.

Hope that helps. Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions.

chrisvonc
September 19th, 2005, 05:09 PM
I can also add that the plastic is good and thick. I've had mine for 2 winters so far and it still looks good. As Art said, its not a badger but the material used is somewhat insulated reducing some noise as well as improving the barrier. Also Arts goes fully from top to bottom.

Art, mine arrived on Monday. Thanks! It's great, and such a good idea. I had to make a few mods, both to the curtain and to my overhead console, to get everything to fit, but it's going to work. It's at a local top shop now, having my trimming tidied up a bit. Also, I'm having them sew a black liner on the front side, to cover the fuzzy insulation. I could just see every bit of dust and muck that gets into the cab sticking to that...
